Diagnostics of the brake light problem determined the combination switch in the steering column was the culprit and had failed, causing loss of brake lights and failure of the transmission to go into coast mode when the brake pedal was applied. My check oil level light has been on. He put it all back together, took it for a drive.
Do you think filling the fluid fixed it or did I mess up my transmission? They replaced my transmission with another defective transmission which I was told the day after installing the new transmission would need to be replaced again. Could tell by the way it sifted and acted. I have two different shops telling me they need to take out the transmission to diagnose it, which I get, but that costs a certain price. I changed the fluid and filter about 200 miles ago, too. What is really crazy is , I have a streetrod.
I am being told, change the governor pressure sensor, drop the pan, give it a flush, a tuneup, change the filter, etc but I am clueless. While putting the vehicle in the garage, it bounced off a center support post, veered to one side and then plowed into the consumer's back door. Now I cannot tighten it. In the winter it is not a problem. And the noise went away. First second and third seem to be okay. A check of equipment showed all mechanical parts to be fit, and adjusted correctly. They have known for a very long time that this is the case but refuse to do anything about it.
I have a 2005 Nissan Altima 3. I assume this is the shift point from 2nd to drive. Whatever happened,happened while I was driving it. You may try turning the overdrive function on and off to try and get the light to function properly. The car will not shift automatically through first and second gear and has to be shifted manually with the gear shift through all of the lower gears. This is to protect the rest of the clutches and seals to prevent more damage internally. My warranty recently expired and I am not sure what this could possibly be besides my transmission.
I stopped and then got back in it and started back down the road. Also, some of the warning lights were flashing on and off like there was a short in a fuse , and the speed odometer and heat gage monitor needles were bouncing all over the place. Ive replaced the door handles on the back doors twice because the crappie clips keep breaking and guess what they don't sell the clips seperately. Reverse and first gear and drive does not work but neutral and park do.
If I ease the pedal down very slowly, it will shift both times, and then it is fine. Do anyone have any idea what it could be. Metal cylinder shape piece so i put the cable with the metal washer looking piece on the end of it back on the cylinder and it shifted. Same thing happened this morning. Fuilds are good, transmission was flushed between 50-60,000 miles.
