It shifts hard to between 1rst and 2nd then vice versa. I've keep my car maintaned and even inspected by diagnostic nothing shows, no trouble codes show up when they put the car on the scope. A few days after I got it, I was involved in an accident. No resolution has been offered at this time. Some times while stopped and sitting at a traffic light the vehicle will have a noticeable lurch forward.
When I put my 05 Max in Drive, it jerks. The vehicle was not repaired. They told us it was not the transmission but instead motor mounts, rods, and bolts. I have treat this car like a baby. I called Nissan and opened a case, I was told there's nothing they can do.
We had to borrow the money to have it repaired. While driving there is a whine and a drag feeling as if the engine is straining because it is in the wrong gear. Who would want a car that used to be smooth and now these sudden stops or jerking once you press the brake. The dealer diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. My car stalled in the middle of an inter-section before changing gears and I was almost reared ended because of this faulty transmission.
Sorry get a new Transmission. My car jerks between 1st and 2nd gear and when down shifting. Putting the car from park to drive it hesitates about 5 to 7 sec. I took my car to several mechanics who I know and got the same information. When accelerating the vehicle hesitates and then jerks into gear with alot of force. We are getting prices for our car outside of Nissan because of the frustration we have gone through with them. I purchased the vehicle new in 2005 and only drive it to work and for occasional shopping.
The failure and current mileage was 122,770. I have read multiple complaints and am so discouraged. I'm making a car payment on something I can't even drive. The Valve body upgrade took about 4hr to complete. Only drive the car on weekends so I do not have a lot of miles on the car.
Sometimes the car won't move when attempting to accelerate. This is just a rip off. Slide the transmission fluid catch pan out from under the 2005 Nissan Maxima. This is a very common issue I have heard a lot about in the '04-'06 Maxima models. Here is that they are saying. Slide the fluid catch pan underneath the drain plug on the bottom of the transmission.
I have loved the car up until it recently hit 65k miles and has started jerking while shifting, also putting into drive or reverse from park will be delayed. Suck it up Nissan, you screwed up now make it right!!!!! I don't believe that a car with only 71,000 miles should be required to replace the transmission. The car feels like it is slipping when attempting to drive after being at a stop. This car needs to be recalled for its transmission. Transmission started slipping a few months ago. One part of the vehicle that needs to be checked regularly is the transmission, specifically its fluid.
The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 76,000. The same line of b. I was driving in the rain and preparing to make a left turn, and as I was doing that it stalled, then jerked and hydroplaned at the intersection and into the incoming lane of traffic into another car. My story almost exactly the same as yours. The video above shows where the transmission fluid dipstick is located in your Maxima and how to check the transmission fluid level.
