I stopped to go into a store and check the transmission oil temp and it was in the hot zone on the stick. Also is the fluid getting leaked or its low. But thats just my jeep, who know yours might be a different situation. A sensor was giving out an erratic signal. I wish I had a full warranty.
I recommend you to monitor transmission temperature with a scan tool when the problem exists and if it shows something abnormal, then wiring to the temp sensor should be inspected. A dealer should be able to tell you whether that is the normal behavior ie. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and explained to the contact that the part needed was on back order and there was no time frame for when the repair could be performed. The noise I mentioned is coming from the 2 front wheel bearings, not from a supposedly stuck 4th gear, they twice took it for a test drive. Only give advice on something you believe to be true. The trans overtemp message did however come on. The temp gauge that was peging out was the engine temp not trans. As the temperature rises, resistance rises, and therefore, the probing voltage is decreasing. What do you mean aux fan? Checking the connections to power is usually a good first step for things like this. Once that is off you will see the filter. Yeah cooler lines were checked and flushed. I could unplug the temp sensor and watch it default to -40 then go back to normal when pluged in.
What is the part called? It could an intermittent wiring issue caused by a bad contact somewhere within connectors. I would love more opinions on this. Stopped car for 2 hours went out to restart and nothing but silence. If there is a transmission recall what would 6 the changes of them actually fixing it.
