Pry out the locking clip for the remote control rod with a flat screwdriver; you might need to replace it as it can break. Do not fall for warranty cancellations or similar dealership spam. In order to peel back the water shield, cut through its butyl strip with a knife or scraper, making sure you don't damage the weather shield, door panel or adhesive. With the door trim off, remove the grommet so that you can access a screw under it. Remove the assembly security shield by unclipping the trim in the back and removing the screws. You should then pull those clips from the door panel. Remove the three bolts on the rear door edge surrounding the lock assembly--these will require a Torx wrench. These are the cheapest door handles I've ever seen. Remove any plastic covers that may be glued to the door.
Set door latch to lock position. Remove outside door handle by pulling it out then slide it to the left.
