I put a 86 fuel injected engine into a 80 pickup. Computer control became the norm on 4. I suspected water in the tank, knowing that ethanol can attract moisture, so i ran the tank dry then bought 5 gallons ethanol free fuel i live in the country where we can still find it. Water pump has 2 grooves. I consulted my Ford Racing books, but I only have them up to 1993. If you want good performance out of your current engine you will spend just as much or more. Was wondering if anyone here has any advice or input into this matter.
This kit includes all pulleys, bolts and brackets you need, but does not include the alternator, power steering pump or dampers. I may also give up and just get a newer truck, but not quite ready yet. The engine in the 1985 Ford F-150 is either a 255-lb. Our billet aluminum pulleys reduce weight, increase horsepower and are balanced better than any chrome or steel pulley on the market. Rust continues to be the main enemy of the F-Series, especially around the fenders, doors, and cab corners. Ask the shop to put another carb on it, borrow it from another truck if necessary, then drive it for a week as a test to see if the problem goes away. This sounds to me like a fuel problem, either metering, pump, filter, or line.

Get the performance of an aluminum pulley but the old school look of black V-belt pulleys. Engine started, ran great for a few months, and i thought i had solved the problem…until yesterday, when the engine started doing the same thing again just as it did when the problem originally started. If the engine can be rotated in the opposite direction more than 5 degrees before the rotor in the distributer begins to rotate the timing chain is stretched. I appreciate the feedback so far. No changes were made to the transmissions - three and four-speed manuals were standard, with three and four-speed automatics optional. I did have to tear the front of the engine down to swap out the cam eccentric for the fuel pump, and the timing cover and water pump, and all the brackets for the v-belt pulley setup. By this time, the eighth generation of Ford trucks was on the drawing board in Dearborn, but continual refinements in style and advancements in technology kept the seventh-generation trucks at the top of their game. Might have to call up a Ford shop and have them look it up for me.
