Now that's a reliable truck. The only time it has left me stranded was when the timing gears stripped out. It saved my life, I would have kept it, but I have too many projects as is. Steering was loose, but tracked very nice. Replaced the clutch when I put the new motor in, but the clutch still had quite a few miles left on it.
The on-road handling isn't anything to brag about, because it handles about like a tank, but I personally like that feeling, and come on it's a work truck. I put a new long block in it, and it runs great. I will give a discount if you buy more than one part. Anything not on the list call for prices. Buying a used 1987 Ford F-150 transmission from a non-reliable dealer is an unnecessary risk. I released the gas and every so gently tried to correct, but lost control anyway and ended up hitting a tree.
Which brings me to the bad thing about this truck, it only gets 11 miles to the gallon, which is horrible, but it gets better mileage than an old 460 Ford that I once had. It had a tranny leak, but easy to fix. The motor went out broke valve at at 258,000 miles, put in a new long block and its been great ever since. All of these prices are with me pulling the parts. There have only been two things to go wrong was a leaky radiator. General Comments: I got this truck from my grandfather a couple years ago because after 258,000 miles of long hard abuse, the intake valve on the 1 hole broke, thus he gave it to me because he didn't want to mess with it.
