I have the same truck as you. The truck had 181,000 miles on it and drove like it was new. It averaged about 13-15 mpg depending on how it was driven. All bolts got a liberal coating of anti-seize to help then next person who changes out shocks. I had a very bad experience with the quality of that vehicle.
Do not carry anything in the truck you do not need. The ride is not so comfortable though. Bought it at 72k, now has 120K. Primary Use: Utility towing boats, transporting cargo, etc. Make sure the tires are set to the proper psi as listed in your owners manual and on the drivers door post.
Black Magic 180 Extreme electric fan. They are running 500hp and 650 ft. Whether you can see it or not, I don't know what to tell you. And so I looked for a truck. Since then I trashed my tranny after a series of performance mods. These transmissions are expensive but i was looking for a manual when i got my 98 which had a new automatic transmission in it and it has served me well and it is supposedly a stock factory transmission. You'll notice lot's more power and your 5. You tighten up a bolt to spread the mount, and loosen to retract the tool. I ended up beating the hell out of mounts on the truck with a 5lb sledge hammer to open them up. They have a good reputation for building some to handle enormous amounts of horsepower. Been a real good truck! The reason I'd take passenger side is there's less electronics in the door and usually has less wear.
All of the rest just regular wear and tear stuff. The fuel pump may be bad, there may be a hole or break in the fuel line between the pump and the tank allowing air to enter. If the truck has a low gear ratio that would make it worse than normal, If you keep it under 2000 rpm on the hwy it will probaby get close to 20 mpg but you will be going about 60 mph. It turned into over day of wrenching to get the old ones off and the new ones on. One is ratteling around pretty bad and I'm sure it's not flowing like it should. Primary Use: Commuting to work All In All, This Dodge Is Fun To Drive, Looks Good, And Has Never Left My Stranded. Change your air filter to a less restrictive type like K N etc. Gross weight was approximately 22,000 lbs. The tranny is not so hot though, I've not had any trouble but i've heard from many people that they can barely handle the stock power from the V8 let alone a modified motor.
