Clutch once but slave failed twice. No Review Date: 8th January, 2013 If I remember correctly, there was no 460 cid V8 available for 1997, as the whole line was restyled that year in a more modern fashion. There is no comparison between this truck and the Chevrolet C2500, I owned before. They used it to pull stock trailers. It was always well maintained and never abused. Faults: Front brake pads needed to be replaced when I got it. We did in fact wash the vehicle regularly, top and bottom.
Brake lines two failures in the metal lines on the rear brakes. Yes Review Date: 11th February, 2011 Faults: Transmission blocker rings twice. I bought it and drove it everywhere for a few months. Dealer had trouble supplying correct parts; it usually took 3 tries and at least one week wait. This truck has way too many sensors. Seems like a solid performer.
While many inspections range from a 70- to 150-point checklist, most are very similar and are performed using strict guidelines. The truck performs like a real trooper. However there are several common problems that can develop over time. The cab was quiet, and the heater worked well. Yes Review Date: 16th June, 2003. General Comments: If you want a tough truck with more power than you'll ever use, this is it.
Faults: Front brake pads needed to be replaced when I got it. I've never been happier with a truck, it feels like you could drag a fire truck down the road. Yes Review Date: 11th February, 2011 Faults: Transmission blocker rings twice. Emergency brake totally replaced except for the pedal. For a truck that weighs over 9000 pounds I think this is outstanding.
This truck has way too many sensors. I believe that the 1997-2004 models were some of the worst. One fuel injector started leaking at 120000 miles and had to be replaced. Year of manufacture 1997 First year of ownership 2000 Most recent year of ownership 2003 Engine and transmission 7. I couldn't ask for better fuel mileage.
Transfer case lever broke off. Seems like a solid performer. Rides like a heavy duty truck. They are in far worse shape. Always check with the manufacturer for the specific warranties they offer. The ride was surprisingly quiet and easy to drive. Engine performance and gas mileage were quite poor.
Aside from that, it stinks that you have a sensor issue with the truck. For the year and mileage, it is in great shape. They used it to pull stock trailers. Torque is the twisting force generated inside the turbodiesel to give the truck its acceleration and pulling power. All the power you need for hauling or towing. A splash shield to protect the starter, as well as actually painting the engine at the factory, would have been a big help. It might be worth fixing as opposed to replacing the truck.
I pull a fifth wheel with it and have never longed for more power climbing hills. Over all this is a super truck and I plan on driving it at least 500000 miles. There is no comparison between this truck and the Chevrolet C2500, I owned before. I have seen newer trucks of other brands. Has pulled campers and cars with ease, and gets better fuel mileage than my old 4 cylinder Ranger.
The truck performs like a real trooper. The ride was surprisingly quiet and easy to drive. Yes Review Date: 11th February, 2011 Faults: Transmission blocker rings twice. This is better than the F150 that I owned prior to this one. I recommend learning about it before you buy. Faults: Driver seat has wear.
