Currently, tires were wearing from inside out where aligment could not fix problem. They installed new throttle body. Fuel tank did not fall to the ground but probably would have if I kept driving it. The truck has been garaged just about its whole life since I bought it brand new. The dealer was not notified. Why didn't they check the national computer when they had the truck the first time? This only occurred when the vehicle was stopped however the vehicle would restart immediately. The evaporator canister was filled with dirt and debris and caused the fuel tank to collapse from the vacuum, which split the gas tank at the seam and released all the fuel.
Also found that the fuel lines were also rusted, corroded and leaking. They towed truck in and replaced oil pump. It has new plugs, a cleaned mass airflow sensor, and after bogging down for a minute or two, runs very good. When is Chevy going to get off their butt and do something about this. The approximate failure mileage was unknown.
Today we put a new fuel pump in it. Also, before I go any further, every time I got in it and started it up which started fine all the time , and started driving right away, it bogged down when I gave it gas, for about a minute or so, and then ran good after that, until I shut it off and started again. This expensive vehicle also has a rear end bang into drive and then reverse again the dealer states is normal. Plus just about all of my gas lines have serious rust on them. The mileage was only 4513. While I was under the truck I also noticed that one of the cross members that support the right rear shock plus the gas tank is supported off of is rusted with only half a tube left. Oil light illuminated, dealer put in a new valve, oil problem still continued, oil was found covering and underneath the chassis. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. A problem of this kind could be very dangerous on an expressway. The contact stated that the rear upper shock mount and the fuel tank shocks were corroded, causing the fuel tank to become unstable. My other issue is that the rocker panels on both sides of the cab are rusted threw to a point that you can stick your hand in them. Vehicle presently has 89,000 mi. It will turn over several times before it will start or I press the accelerator to get sufficient gas to start the truck. Last week my wife was driving the truck to the store. Service engine lights stays on, motor still making noise, 200 miles from being out of warrenty. The vehicle was taken to dealer for inspection and the fuel pump was replaced. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the upper shock mount needed to be replaced. When he pulled the fuel tank from the vehicle and removed the plastic cover, he noticed that it had collapsed and split the seam open on the tank. This time they said it was due to castrol oil filter.
Pictures are available can't copy into this form. The contact noticed fuel on the floor underneath the vehicle. Now the gage works fine, with no computer coming on, but the bogging down is still there. Which included replacement of all rotted brake lines. Upon completion of said repairs, low and behold, I didn't notice any more cold engine start-up knock! Took truck in was told fuel pump shorted, melted wire harness and fuel pump module melted.
I wanted engine replace, but they said there was no damage. Started truck up again, thought maybe guage was incorrect. I have a Chevy 2000 Silverado Z71 pick up that has piston slap starting at around 15K miles and progressively worsened which the dealer states is normal wear. They said nothing was wrong. Dealer can't find anything wrong. They also had to be replaced.
