Catalytic converters cannot fail on there own and the original cause of failure must be repaired to prevent repeated converter failure. The only thing that I might of caused my problem is that while I was working on the right ball joints the right shaft slipped out and I had a hard time getting it back in the axle. Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop. The problem stems from an issue where the wire harness is hanging on the connector pins that are soldered to the board, eventually working them loose.
You'r problem is all electrical trust me. I was hoping it was either the switch or the sensor but no luck. Special attention to electrical and mechanical details. Grand cherokee have a manual shifter for that. I'm gonna try this thread first and then ill resort to the dealership.
I had the exact same problem as you last week. My problem started after replacing the upper and lower ball joints. There are how to videos step by step instructions on youtube. Posted on Jan 04, 2009 As I recall the 96 blazer had electronic shifting for 2wd to 4wd. Everything seems to be working fine now. I asked a few friends around and they said it could either be the switch itself or the sensor on the transfer case. After you get it out theres a few more tabs surrounding the back plate, and this is where the circuit board is located. There is another number on it.
Ive checked all the fuses i think might be linked to the 4wd and they all seem fine. Not sure why the fuse went out though. Like for example today it's -42C here I think that if components get seriously cold, they won't want to move being too stiff and stuck. Ive checked all the fuses i think might be linked to the 4wd and they all seem fine.
The system does not know which calibration to use without this information. Commercial, heavy duty, custom, or off road vehicle use voids the warranty.
