If you look under the dash up along the brake pedal 'arm' i guess you could call it, there with be a little switch resting up against the arm not all that far up, you should see it without having to disassemble anything, but again, could be different. Hope I didn't confuse you too much. My manual is at home. The switch was out when I did that. The wiring to the brake lights and turn signals are postioned badly right under the tilt steering mechanism. A short in the signal wiring caused the trailer wiring insulation to melt off before the fuse blew.
My midlift gate cracked in november and a new one was put on. So, if all three brake lights are out, it could be just one fuse or perhaps.
