Many of the Saturn L series automatic transmissions do not have a dipstick. Prior to that, I had no gear problems other than a noise when I shifted that I reported to the dealer in September. There is a plug on the passenger side of the transmission by the drive axle It is 11mm bolt. I know you prefer to support only the brand never certified and marketed with the use of smoke and mirrors, but I fail to see why you object to leading people to information of those companies that actually went through the certification process. Consumer doesn't feel this vehicle is safe to operate, consumer belives this is transmission releated, however the dealer is stating it is a computer chip that is causing the problem. The drain plug if it's overfull is below the dipstick tube. The dealer told me that the front axle nuts were not torqued properly.
Make sure you watch the transmission sensors and sensor wires when you put the new filter on. Always consult a professional repair manual before starting your repair. The problem has been looked at on several occasions. I changed out the stick shift unit-no help. Check out some of my other posts if you need more tips and info. Longsnowsm There's a drain plug--it's kinda to hard to get at without putting the front on jackstands but you can do it. Rate the quality of this post and help Signmaster reputation points. While trying to get it off of the road after a stop, clutch failed. Is this link the same one? My whole family has saturn's and they really enjoy them too. If it's hard to shift into every gear then u have a problem with ur clutch or clutch hydralics if u have trouble only getting it into certain gears then u have a problem with the transmission. The reason your trans is exhibiting these early failure symptoms is the valve body has small internal passages that get easily plugged over time, and the higher than normal line pressures to engage reverse are not being met.
I am not sure which nut is for drain hole. While waiting, this is a good time to clean up the mess, and to check the tire pressure, clean the wind sheild, etc. Jan 18, 2010 Hey This code is set when there is a variance in speed from the transmission input and output shafts. The Mobil-1 may be an improvement but the Torque-Drive is regarded as an improvement over the Mobil-1. I tried to lookup the tranny fluid on one of the sites and it told me that the tranny fluid should be bought from the dealer. The problem is that by this time, the fluid will have degraded enough to shorten the life of the transmission. I asked them to check that out and I also scheduled an oil change at that time. For the whole assembly to be replaced it should have been only like 1. So much smoke was pouring out from under the hood that I was afraid to open it.
