My water pump went and from that point it hasn't acted up. Answer: in most cases if we receive the item by noon we are able to repair it and ship it back on the same day. Then you use the solder and iron to solder on a small amount of solder to each motor's pin. Funny how you know the average mileage it will fail and what the limit you allow. All of the gauges will fail eventually. Now that you've made your calibration marks firmly rotate each needle further counter clockwise a few inches. Never will I buy from you again.
Then set the gauge face down, and snap into place. After replacing the motors temporarily plug the circuit board back into the wiring harness, with the key in the off position. You may need to go 360 degrees counter clockwise all the way around stopping at the point you need to get it just right. It is a real pain in the butt and the bell sound drives you nut's Chevy need's to fix the problem and tell people what the problem is and why it happen's. I would also recommend getting replacement light bulbs while you have the cluster dis-assembled.
As another side note, you will see that my photos have both white and black gauge faces. I have done the occassional flat tire, checked oil and have almost always pumped my own gas, but other than that i know nothing about cars. There has been several recalls on this truck and you bust your ass figuring out how to avoid fixing the problem instead of busting your ass to figure out a way to fix the problems,no wonder you needed a bail out. Do not get it too hot for too long or you can damage the circuit board. I did have the cluster replaced due to the stepper motor issue several years back. The idea is to get the needle back to the stop and line up with the mark on the tape made in step 4.
What if my whole cluster intermittently goes out at the same time, all the gauges and lights go out except the check engine light? You're now ready to re-install the cluster and test our your job! Thanks again Mike, for the recommendation. I have the same problem that all the gauges are out. You'll need to use a small tool to pry out on the tabs while pulling up on the lens assembly to remove it. Use the de-soldering bulb and the solder iron to suck off the old solder on each of the four pins of each motor. Watch the simple replacement of a speedometer stepper motor from the instrument cluster in a 2003 Suburban. But let's get back to stepper pointer motor repair service. Thus, the dealer has to transfer the info for you and they wont do that with out it being a dealer product.
Service levels We do provide 2 levels of service for those clusters - Basic and Full Rebuild. Once I had the solder removed, I gently pulled on the old stepper motor and applied a little more heat to any pins that were still stuck. I was lucky I guess, and had everything work the first time. The process is very easy and is basically this. Eight hundred bucks for poor electronics.
What if I have light bulbs out too? Repeat this step for as many stepper motors as you are replacing. See pic of a damaged board. At this point, I am so frustrated, I may stop buying American vehicles all together. Now slide each needle back onto the shaft of each new motor being careful to slide it on smoothly and straight down not at an angle, to prevent bending the motor shafts. Hit the bricks in my oppinion.
They all work but I am thinking about upgrading them to the newer X27 motors while it is apart. Re-assemble the cluster and the dash. Now its doing it again but now its also the gas gauge. See our site for more information. Remove light defuser, and white plastic housing.
Finally about 3 weeks ago the volt meter broke and then 2 days later the tach and oil pressure gauge freaked out! Please I need help I like my truck but I'm ready to blow it up!!!!! I realize that the truck is 8-9 years old, but it only has 80,000 miles on it. So if it got stuck in the middle it would assume that were it is, is at zero. I had gone so far as checking on a replacement cluster to try and cure the problem, sure glad i did a little more looking. Now you simply need to pop your new where the old ones were, they will only install in one direction so you don't have to worry about mixing them up or getting it wrong. We return your cluster back the same day so there is no need to reprogram the mileage.
