The lines rusted out where there are 90° bends, and especially where plastic retainers snap in the tubing, holding them to the frame. The O-ring is designed to seal the leak and reduce the possibility of transmission fluid leakage. This may be caused by insufficient thread sealer on the transmission oil cooler fitting. If the threads are damaged, replace the radiator. Lift the front of the Taurus, using a floor jack placed under the front sub-frame. Assenmacher 8110 10-Pc Line Disconnect Set. Ford used a quick-disconnect fitting to simplify the procedure; the special tool required to accomplish the task is available at most auto parts stores. They completely enclose the hose, and have a specially designed feature that helps deflect any spray. Making sure that the gasket between the transmission oil cooler and the inside of the radiator tank is still in place, reinstall the transmission oil cooler fitting. There may be other types out there. Why do they have to keep changing these things! And to think I still only have about 68K miles on this truck where the original and previous owner kept it in the garage.
