When done scroll to exit and hit dsp button again. If it was the switch, then the gear indicator wouldn't light up correct? I'd jump right to the steering column connector and check the variable resistance across the circuit for the stalk switch for the instrument panel lights. Once I get the wiring diagram, i will focus on the headlight switch. Look into everything, to rule out all possibility of something major. Yeah, you'll need an accurate wiring diagram. Once at settings, use seek or scan button to scroll through menu. I replaced battery today because it was shot.
I just went through changing the bulbs in my ranger, because one went out in the speedo, and others were dim. Other than that, I'd think of checking the instrument panel ground, since all are out. Could take several seconds, be patient. Follow that wire and make sure both ends are properly connected. Look into everything, to rule out all possibility of something major. I did see a few mentions on the internet about failed headlight switches.
I'm trying to figure out if this wire not being connected is the reason why my car won't start. All my experience is with Ford, so I can't tell you for sure that Chevrolet is the same. All my experience is with Ford, so I can't tell you for sure that Chevrolet is the same. I should be able to get a wiring diagram either on line or tomarrow from the library. Clean and or replace corroded wireing. So maybe there is an issue with body control module? I tried looking at wiring diagrams but don't understand them.
The indicator is probably lighted through a different circuit. I know the owners manual is not the same a service manual, but is a place to start. First, make sure that the four tires are identical and have identical pressure. The fuse box under the hood on the driver side had corosion from the battery. We suggest you insure it against damage.
I'd hate to think that a simple light circuit ran through a control module. They told me that the dimmer part of the switch goes bad. I have looked into the headlight switch and that did not work, and I have checked the fuses and that did not work too. Not sure why i did this, but with the headlights on, i lifted up slightly on the heaglight knob, and the dash light illiminated. I wish I could locate just one honest mechanic in my city.
Thank You in advance for purchasing our Repair Service for your 2000-2005 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Instrument Cluster. Rick Assuming that you have checked the battery and that's not the problem many times you will have enough juice to light the dash and headlights but not enough to make the starter turn the motor over I would recommend you take out the starter and check the solenoid commonly referred to as the Bendix …. Diagnosis problem, replacement and program new body control module. That would be a pain. Edited February 14, 2011 by ReconRat I got out of the car repair field about 1994 prior to more control modules in vehicles. I just went through changing the bulbs in my ranger, because one went out in the speedo, and others were dim. Make sure that your battery is in good condition.
Only took about 30 minutes for the first time to do it. Mine blinks, not very fast, but enough for me to look out the window and see that it's running. Engine light comes on also. Once you've done that apply power to the starter itself and see if it turns over. That light should be on the same circuit as the rest.
I never replaced that one because I never looked to see what type of bulb that takes. I am not sure if it some thing as basic as the headlight switch since the brightness used to be adjustable, or if the body control module is somehow in the circuit. That light should be on the same circuit as the rest. It remains on full for about 2-3 minutes then immediately indicates an empty reading. Check the firewall connection to see if that is tight, and make sure the fuse panel and its ground are tight first. If it doesn't, as I suspect it won't than you have your problem. If it's not a fuse, then the circuit is open.
The reset is in radio controls. That has been my experience any ways. If it keeps doing it, have your vehicle serviced. You or your mechanic gets to lay on their back and look for loose wires connectors or ground wires behind the dash board. Making sure to check voltage from the switch to the cluster.
All fuses, on both sides of the dash board and under the hood checked good. Turn radio off, push and hold dsp button until screen goes to settings. If it was the switch, then the gear indicator wouldn't light up correct? It didn't fix the problem and they would not refund my money so I called the B. There is still the possibility that they are burned out. I would have also noticed if the radio light was not working, cuz i tend to always listen to the radio. I've filled the tank and driven about 300 miles with this condition so I think the fuel pump and sending unit are probably ok. It somehow got so hot it turned the plastic black, and it melted.
