The first complaint occurred on my other Rainier now this one. The contact stated that the headlights remained off for approximately six minutes. Change headlights in 2004 Chevy Malibu. The high beams still worked. If someone can provide an answer that would be very helpful to everyone. The headlights some times flicker bright to dim then back to bright and the voltage gauge fluctates.
Unfortunately there may not be a single answer fix, there may be some one who has this same problem on the forum, hope you find a answer on this. It happened at least twice that night. Turn the required bulb in its socket until it is loose, then pull it out. It appears to me that there is a short or a moisture that creates this happening because after a few days of good sunny weather where the water has evaporated from the roadways, our beloved rainer comes back to normal. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Separate the wire plug from the base of the bulb. We still experience the dimming of the headlights as we are driving at night when we are cruising with no gas pedal application at around the 32 mph marking which is rather annoying as other drivers feel as if we are flashing them.
I feel this vehicle has had electrical issues from day one, I see turn signal and brakelight issues in recall so I don't believe I am wrong about this. This has been an on going problems since april 2004. The failure mileage was 150,471. While driving 65 mph, the headlights failed without warning. Pull up on these clips and pull them off.
While driving various speeds, the headlights failed to illuminate. The vehicle was not repaired. Although they had another vehicle there with same problem. No problem moving the power steering reservoir using a flat head screwdriver. Open it and reach down inside and grab the bulb's socket.
The approximate failure mileage was 110,000. If it's only the bulb which has gone, then there's no need to remove the front bumper as was previously suggested. The vehicle was taken to j. The flasher relay is going to be the biggest relay in the box. After the white clip is free, turn the bulb toward left side of your car assuming you're looking down at it from the front of your vehicle. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the headlights would intermittently operate.
Took to dealer, of course no problem was found. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000. Took longer to locate the thing than it did to repair the problem. Use a tool like a coin or a screwdriver to loosen the wire plug retainer, if necessary. Pull the headlight assembly away carefully, as the bulbs are still attached to the wire harness behind them. Grab the bulb, and pull it straight out.
I parked and turned the engine off for a while and when I restarted the high beams were working again but not the low beams. Install the new bulb in the socket of the light assembly. I changed out the headlight relay just before this occurred as I had seen a recall on 2006 and 2007 Rainiers showing this as the problem. I found that it also helped to use the holes in the bracket of the frame of the car that were near the windshield wiper tank to help hold and guide the screwdrivers as I pushed down on the connector. Then plug the wire into the base of the bulb assembly. We shut the engine off, sit for a minute and restart only to get the same thing.
If you are un successful approaching it from the top of the engine compartment ,turn the wheels one direction depending on which side of the car you are working on , remove a few screws from the front of the wheel and gently peel back the wheel well just to gain slightly better access, butI warn you there is little room to work with tools under the hood of this particular model so be patient and dont drop anything in the engine. The issue is that the headlamp bulb connectors are melting where they plug into the bulb, causing intermittent or no function at all of the headlamp. Luckily, I didn't crash because the lights of a nearby semi kept me from crashing into the freeway barrier. Some Buicks have high intensity discharge headlights, sometimes referred to as xenon lights. Thanks to all the suggestions above. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle was not included in a recall.
Apply light pressure to the headlamp lens to hold the headlamp assembly in place while disconnecting the retainers. Feb 04, 2018 Most vehicles are equipped with Halogen bulbs that are small bulbs that are replaced from under the hood behind the headlight bezel assembly. The contact replaced the bulb; however, the failure recurred and the headlight socket melted. This will give you enough room to put your hand in. Hen I reported the problem to the dealer the next day he was absolutely willing to do anything to fix the problem and understood completely how dangerous it was. Push the new bulb into the socket, put the socket back into the housing, and twist a quarter turn clockwise to secure the socket into the fixture.
