I have found that if you disconnect the battery and remove the bezel around the key cylinder use a small screw driver and pry gently then turn the key as to star the car and move the shift lever into its lowest position its less disassembling for you. I have found that both can be reset simply by turning the ignition key on and off until which every instrument is acting up goes back to zero. Cruise control has went out several times and no longer works transmission started slipping around 80,000 miles. Then my gauges went to hell.
