I wanted to post this in a forum specific to fellow Fusion owners because it seems different than the normal deterioration due to time than I've experienced with vehicles in the past. It only extends down from the tear drop top down about half way, around when the slight horizontal slope turns more verticals. If you did have it, how did you fix it? They have a quality reputation and provided you with some excellent results, so it sounds like you can't go wrong. This cloudiness is really driving me nuts. . I'm going to attempt to add a picture, but the haze is almost camouflaged by the reflector beneath. In my Fusion, the haze is not all over the lens.
I will be very thankful for any advice you may have. Does anybody know if the lenses for these high discharge lights are made differently or need some specialty optical coating that is key for the headlamp's function, but may also prevent the cloudy corrosion common with other headlights? I'm going with the 3M kit you suggested. Could it be something that is on the inside of the lens? Cloudy headlights are a total pet peeve of mine, it's like your car has cataracts. You guys all know what I mean, you love your Fusion too. I can't comment on the Fusion specifically, but I was wondering if you tried a more aggressive option, such as the? Online there might be 50 choices; all claiming to be the best. I tried my trusty Plast-X several times, and there was absolutely zero improvement. It uses sandpaper which will do a good job of actually removing the yellow layer.
Has anybody else encountered this problem? The bottom of the headlight is crystal clear and looks good as new. The entire lens feels as smooth as glass. Hey thanks for the advice. Just a side note, I mentioned I had this problem with headlights on other vehicles in my initial post. I've owned an 88 Mustang, 92 Cougar, and a 99 Sable. . .
