The boss on the bottom of the pan is an alternative drain hole location. Nothing comes up on diagnostic. The approximate failure mileage was 56,000. He reported that he had no clearance issues and the pan fit perfect. The manufacturer was not notified. This is a serious problem due to not being able to accellerate during lane changes on highway. We see several recalls that would relate to our problem but all have been identified for the 4X4.
He purchased a spacer kit to lower the skid plate. She also stated that when the vehicle rolled backwards on an incline, it would shut off without warning at 6 mph. It could be a weeping trany pan, line leak, seal, gasket. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. We have had customers install this pan on many models. On some Jeep Rubicons probably 2003 to 2006 models , the drain is close to the cross member or support bar so check clearance carefully and note that draining fluid will require some care. Will hang up at 50 mph causing vehicle to not go.
Two of the rear bolts are hard to access during installation. These newer Wranglers have the exhaust routed close to the transmission pan. Remember, we always like new Mod ideas here. Additionally, the drive shaft failure will result in a loss of motive power.
We have had many installations on Wranglers from 2003 to 2011. The failure was experienced numerous times until becoming a permanent failure. Breaks lock up because car is turned off so I have no way to stop car but emergency break and hope that it works quick enough. The pan has a bit more capacity than the stock pan, which also helps lower transmission fluid temperatures. Since our pan is larger than stock, always watch out for clearance with skid plates, exhaust and and cross members and other vehicle components. I really fear for me and my children's safety.
The contact stated that while accelerating from a stop sign, there was a explosion heard from under the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The force applied did move the pipe downward but not enough. The current and failure mileages were 6,500. Use a stock filter with this pan.
In addition, smoke emitted into the vehicle and flames appeared underneath. The consumer stated two days, has since turned into three months. The contact stated that the vehicle would roll backwards while on an incline and with the gear shift indicator in drive. The Chrysler recall number is M22. The driver and passenger were able to exit the vehicle.
