Well, they told me that it was ok to drive until they got the part in. This is totally going to ruin Christmas. This problem was finally fix after 2 visits to the dealer. Is this the customer service that they expect out of their people? After this truck I will never buy another dodge product again - Josh J. It started not wanting to kick down in overdrive and I took it in after the check engine light came on. When I contacted my local dealer to ask for some assistance he told me that since I was not the original owner of the vehicle the chances of the district manager giving his approval for assistance was very very slim.
For some reason Dodge has something called 2nd gear Prime which will destroy the clutches to overdrive if you pass a vehicle over 45 miles per hour, and the transmission drops down to 2nd gear. . First I contacted customer service through dodge. You would have to put the truck back in park and try again to get it to work. Before adding transmission fluid, make sure that your engine was running when you checked the fluid level. My frustration is overwhelmed by disappointment and sadness in this situation as I continue to work hard and come home to a truck I am making payments on but have no ability to drive because of the sad craftsmanship that Dodge has now become.
They said it sounded like a transmission issue. It is because the expensive parts will break before 100000 miles! About 3,000 miles later the tranny goes out again. Prior to the failure, around 2,400 miles, I had the transmission fluid cooler replaced with a new Ram 3500 transmission fluid cooler, the transmission fluid, and filters were also replaced. Then I had to take the car in again this month in June because the truck will make a thumping sound when braking. If the transmission fluid level on your Ram 1500 is low, you need to add fluid through the dipstick tube.
This video shows you how to add transmission fluid to your 2007 Dodge Ram 1500. Is it going to break as well??? At around 19000 miles after the warranty expired the transmission broke. The tranny was burnt so they finally put a new tranny and a new torque converter in it. A week later the damn truck lost overdrive and drive so they go and rebuilt the tranny. It also concerns me about my 06 dodge charger that has around 50k miles. Dodge has been developed sophisticated transmissions through years and it is critical that you add the exact type of transmission fluid stipulated by your owner's manual typically in the back of the manual in a section titled Fluid Capacities.
My truck, a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500, was purchased in Dec. This is the second of three Dodge brand vehicles that I have owned in my life and I am seriously considering switching brands when it comes to buying my next vehicle. It would only thump once each time I braked. When adding transmission fluid to your Ram 1500, be sure to add it slowly as the transmission fluid capacity is reached quickly and it is difficult to remove excess fluid if you overfill. If you are having problems with the transmission in your Ram 1500, such as clunky shifting or hesitation, check the fluid level first - it is amazing how many drivers pay thousands of dollars for transmission work when a half quart of transmission fluid would have fixed the problem.
I am having to borrow another truck while I save for the next three months so I can afford to have this transmission rebuilt. They said they had to make a software update. I had a 3rd gear error in the transmission and I was like 'ok'. They don't know why the tranny keeps going out so now I'm stuck paying for a truck I cannot drive. The car would pop out of reverse and you could only rev the engine. I only have 16000 miles on the truck now and have only had the truck a year and 3 month and have been in and out of the dealership.
I am very disappointed in this. Immediately after buying it I noticed a sporadic problem that would occur when trying to go in reverse. We will see I still have customer complaints number she said call back if not fixed and she would reopen the case. I was hoping my problem was finally over but I got 17,000 miles on it now and it's sitting at my mom and dad's house with transmission problems again. They would not give me a new one so they rebuilt it - put all new parts except a torque converter.
