Chrysler's number for this recall is S43. Well, our tester, which delivered a 13. Five ride in the Challenger with room to spare and cargo room in the car and large trunk is cavernous. New, highly damped shocks offer a firm ride that maintains the feel for everyday commuting while being fully capable for the more challenging situations. The very wide, horizontal grille, spoilers and taillamps accentuate the width, as does a turret-like roof and window treatment, and the haunches over the rear wheels where the roof fairs into the trunk and the character line kicks up. Those are increases of 45 hp and 50 lb-ft, with peak power occurring 200 rpm lower than before and max torque 600 lower.
Top speed has been increased to more than 180 mph with the manual transmission 173 mph in the automatic. Walkaround Quite faithful to the 1970-vintage Challenger that powered its creation, the current Challenger features a cool design that should stand the test of time. The other new engine in the lineup is the well-received Pentastar V-6, Although there was one V-6 Challenger available at Infineon, complete with automatic transmission, our hosts somehow found themselves unable to get me any track time in that particular vehicle. Traction control does a very good job of turning controlled wheelspin into thrust and is easier than launching most high-performance manual transmission cars; there's a solid feel to quick upshifts. So says chief engineer Tom McCarthy. Vehicle was an eye catcher. As we dip into the throttle a little, the car tends to be on the sensitive side, willing to surge forward.
In most trims, it's a dark, muted look; but depending on the shopper it can be nice departure from the somewhat more gimmicky interior of the Chevy Camaro. For now, we'll enjoy the modern muscle—comfortably reliving the good ol' days without the hassles of carburetors, drum brakes or bias-ply tires. The V8 is rated at 372 hp and 400 pound-feet of torque with the 5-speed automatic, or 376 hp and 410 pound-feet of torque with the optional 6-speed manual. It is unanimously praised by on-lookers as a cool-looking car and is as faithful to the original as has been done in recent years. But, at least in V8 form, the Challenger is a muscle car that many insist requires stripes, so plenty of wallpaper is optional. .
Great touring car for long road trips and gas mileage was superb for a 376hp V8. I use it by plugging in a flash drive loaded with all my favorite tunes. Love the 470 horse power of the engine. V-6 models come only with the automatic, though it includes AutoStick manual control. By the time I decided to break the rules and blast past this jerkoff without a point-by, I had one lap left in which to test the car. In the affected vehicles, the alternator may suddenly fail.
But it's a different story for rear passengers; there are three seatbelt positions in back, and Chrysler claims best-in-class headroom, though if there are tall people up front, there's little or no space for knees or feet in back, and the very thick pillar lends to claustrophobia as well as a lack of visibility. Lights and the trunk release are to the left on the dash, and the multi-function stalk on the left shows evidence of Dodge's old relationship with Mercedes. Maybe next time a Hemi! The recall began on March 27, 2017. Well, Dodge is not cool with being first loser. The Challenger's mass becomes most apparent under heavy braking on a rippled road, where many lesser-tuned lighter cars have the same issue. That said, Challenger V-6 numbers aren't bad at all with the new 3. This challenger definitely caught my eye. The recall began February 28, 2018.
Given the Challenger's extra 400 pounds, it probably won't keep up with a V6 Mustang. With aerodynamics ever-more-frequently dictating shape and wind patterns, it was refreshing to find the new Challenger can comfortably be driven windows down without buffeting the occupants or thundering their ears. Some of those sensations are attributable to the compact steering wheel and slicker shifter, but the 392's tweaked chassis pieces - fresh Bilsteins, quicker steering, new anti-roll bars - have transformed this beast into a lithe animal that turns in sharply and maintains a set with minimal push. Great gas mileage foe a hemi on the freeway! Whereas the Mustang has allowed itself to be influenced by Europeans, the Challenger looks just right for the American dream. We saw a very respectable 0. The gearing is quite tall and widely spaced with 2nd gear achieving the best balance between powerband and wheel speed for effortless powerslides on command. The recall began on April 22, 2013.
Nice, Reliable Vehicle And Stylish. It looks and has the power of a muscle car but drives like a luxury car. In the block, the camshaft timing is now variable, stretching out the duration of the intake-valve opening for better cylinder filling. Various striping packages, wheels, a Ram air hood, and suspension kits serve to give you whatever customized muscle-car look you want. The overall feel is pleasingly docile for 470 horses running around the city, but the gas pedal mapping is a different story. On the exterior, the Challenger remains anything but muted. Oh, you make me laugh so hard! I love the new pentastar engine and standard dual exhaust.
The cabin is a step wider than that of the Mustang, so there's an airy, spacious feel. Just to make sure nobody forgot I was driving the Challenger. Best Muscle Car Around — Power on this car is great!!! It takes the 392 up a notch on the track-performance pegboard, but does so thankfully without ruining its reputation as an open highway cruiser. Over the few years in which Chrysler has struggled, been bailed out, and quickly worked to rehab its product line, one model that's managed to bolster morale and the automaker's image all the way through is the Dodge Challenger.
