For the 4Lo I find a nice steep hill,stop put transmission into neutral and switch into 4Lo To disengage stop go back to neutral switch to 2Hi. The transfer case is equipped with an electromagnetic clutch which is located inside the case. I read in the other thread that the shift motor is very prone to moisture getting in it and I did wash my truck recently but then it sat inside for a week while I was on holidays. If I'm only using 4x4 for a certain situation like wet grass in a yard, I put the case in 2wd unlock the hubs and back up for a few feet, it has never stuck and I don't think I've ever needed to do the reverse deal, but ya know. If it looks the same then you have at some point gotten water in it. Hello - it sounds like the as expected. There could be a problem with the starter relay or a loose contact for the starter motor, most lik3ely the one connecting to the soliniod. Checked the one in the engine fuse box and the one by my dashboard. If it's winter and the hubs are staying locked in I just kick it down into 2wd and keep on truckin, Like I said it's never stuck and I've never had an issue with doing it this way.

I don't want to assume that the front axle works correctly, but it sounds like you got past that bit of testing. This only applies for the push button models.

I did get the truck in 4hi once but as soon as I gave it a little gas it was like it slipped out. I would check the condition of the fluid in the trans case. If that doesn't work, then there is something wrong somewhere in the transfer case.
