I also live in a rural area where there is limited to no street lighting. The failure mileage was approximately 79,000. I have had the Nissan dealership in my local area new port richey put in the exact bulbs car came with from factory same issue poor lighting on low beam. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure persisted. I replaced the bulbs 3 times in 3 months choosing brighter bulbs each time, as well as buying factory bulbs from the Nissan dealer, but nothing changed. Feel free to use any 2014 Nissan Altima light bulb sizing that is listed on Modified Life but keep in mind that all information here is provided as is without any warranty of any kind.
I thought, this would make a difference, but to my surprise, they haven't changed at all. I noticed this about four months ago. Unfortunately, the gold extended warranty I purchased does not cover malfunctions of supplemental air bag system or any of its components. The dim low beam is obviously a safety issue! There is no other known issue with the headlights. The dim low beam is obviously a safety issue! My headlights do not project far or wide. I have always had good luck with Nissan. After the dealer repaired the vehicle per an air bag recall on June 28, 2016, the air bag warning light remained illuminated. My low beam lights are very dim.
The contact stated that the low beam headlights were dim and the high beam headlights had to be used when driving. I then had Nissan dealership put in bulbs that I purchased on line these bulbs put out 8000 lumens and these bulbs are led bulbs. When taken to the dealer, they said the plug under the drivers seat was loose. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. This is scary for me each night I am driving home given I am a female driving from work between the hours of 1:00 am and 2:00 am. Light output quality is not safe! At that time I noticed that the warning light for no passenger in the passenger seat came on. I have not had an accident yet so this petition is to pre-positive one, to avoid that accidents happen.
I replaced the bulbs with ones that are 60% brighter but it was marginally brighter. I spoke with someone at the Nissan dealership and they know this is a common problem but apparently Nissan has not issued a recall. Nothing is noted on my invoice and nothing is mentioned when the car is picked up. Disappointed in Nissan - Anita C. Seems like a replacement would be the only solutions if it can't be cleaned. We replaced the bulbs thinking they were burned out. The failure mileage was 11,092.
Other vehicles equipped with regular reflection bowl for low beam works perfectly, such as 2007 Buick lucerne 12 years age! My vehicle currently have approximately 79400 miles on it. After doing this, the warning light went off and we proceeded home without incident. I also suffered severe frustration when all that I tried did not help. This is an extreme safety risk for myself, family and other cars on the road. This is a very real safety issue for the dirver , as it is impossible to drive at night. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. They need to open a recall and replace the headlight assembly as soon as possible.
It's like driving with them off. Both sets of bulbs I got same result insuffiecient lighting on low beam. The headlights on low beam does not produce enough light to see the sides of the road or any object within 5 to 10 feet in front of car. Something needs to be done about this. I tried to contact Nissan, however, it was after hours and I will have to wait until Monday to report the issue to them.
