If you do not have this, then you will not get voltage on the other measurements. I am assuming it is in the door along with the motor. Its always a good idea to replace the thermostat housing every few years as they warp,if you dont have the extra cash you can remove the leaky one,and put the new thermostat in the block put a thin layer of good silicone around the stat,take another thin layer and apply it to the housing then you really dont need a gasket but you can still use one with this method,replacing the old bolts is a good idea also and that way you can tighten them correctly with no fear.
