There are hundreds of cases about bad transmissions on these vehicles. The transmission is slipping in 4th gear only 4th. It sounds to me like you have a pressure issue, so if the fluid is dirty dark I recommend replacing the transmission filter and fluid first. This truck was garaged in southern California before coming here to Arizona and was well cared for almost to perfection. Something doesn't sound right here.
Any help on this would be nice. Got it changed a few days ago and it is still doing it. Was informed of the recall by Chrysler when they called me to tell my check was being mailed. The governor screen was also clean. How many people have to be hurt before Dodge does something about this? I contacted Chrysler to see if they would pay for a new transmission and they said no, they wouldn't even help me out. We have changed almost every part of the vehicle but still same problem.
It may cost you a few bucks to switch garages via tow truck but it may save your thousands in the long run. Put it in park, reverse, and then drive, went into gear and drove home, it jumped a few more times, so I manually shifted until I got home? If you can catch the problem before it ruins the transmission, install an aftermarket transmission cooler to help keep temperatures under control. Since you posted no codes. Thanks for your time and comments. I have taken it to shops to have it diagnosed and keep getting a runaround. Have someone drive you to the dealership in the morning, test drive the vehicle with either the Service Manager, Shop Foreman, or the Tech so you can point out the problem. Hard shifted a few times but generally revs between the shift.
After alot of reading and speaking to machanics and dealers, they have all pointed to major problems with the transmission which the manufacturer should do something about. I have a 2002 Jeep Liberty, 3. I took it to the shop and he said it was skipping a gear. It is designed for rear wheel drive vehicles and is usually paired with the smaller V8 engines. I curious if the computer controls the shifting and maybe that's the problem. Going up hills I will see the rpm go up ~500rmps but no increase in power. Ohms very rarely tell you if there is a problem with these units.
Don't prolong any transmission problem, as it will only cost you more in the end, if you don't take care of it right away. While driving 60 mph, the gears slipped without warning. It also seems to downshift alittle hard. I do not know the cost to do this yet. Fluid was well over full so i drained some out and its very dark in colour. Engine will not start, cranks ok but is not lighting off.
If the fluid level is low, there's not enough fluid to fill all these passages, and the transmission lacks pressure internally. If the transmission oil was low when you changed the radiator it's lower now. I later drove around the neighborhood and it does seem to make a vibrating noise at times, and it also seems like it is shifting at times. But now when you shift to reverse or drive you actually got to kind of rev it up for a second before it will actually start moving. The truck is all stock aside from a performance muffler. Any service now will be done on ramps in the dirt. Actually drops mileage on overhead read out when coasting down a grade.
I wasn't i was in 4th and so i tried down shifting and same thing. If the clutch disc is worn out, you need to replace it, generally also along with the clutch plate and one or two bearings. Another common reason for a slipping clutch is a faulty or damaged pressure plate. There are a lot of things that can cause loss of pressure and you may need a transmission experts diagnosis. Truck was driving okay until there was a small delay shifting into 3rd. Honda transmission fluid levels are checked with the engine off and the car on level ground.
The first repairman said at first my rear diffrential is broken thats why im having a hard time going in reverse. You may have to do this procedure several times, or even drive the car around the block, and then recheck the fluid level. Aside from some muck on the magnet, the pan was clean. Only use Genuine Honda transmission fluid, or you will have shifting issues. Same problem but not covered????. But i hate working on my car its super old and annoying to work on.
