It leaves the door wide open for further discussion among a broad and potentially diverse range of the viewing public regardless of their own particular faith perspective. Hope word gets out about this film, more people need to see this film.
It is theologically sound and communicates the power and importance of faith without sounding preachy or condescending. Based on the true story of Michael and Michelle Boyum, Until Forever illustrates the strength of faith in the midst of the unknown. Visiting other patients, he lifts spirits while also keeping the medical staff upbeat. I work in mental health now and appreciated the honesty of Michael's brother Matt sharing about his battle with depression and suicidal thoughts. We were impressed to see the story told so well. So blessed to have seen this.
Woll does a nice job of largely carrying the movie, even though her character of Alice doesn't always seem to be well defined. Now, before we get into the nitty-gritty of how you can watch 'Until Forever' right now, here are some details about the drama flick. The acting and production of this film is of very high quality. I love sad movies here and there, but depressing movies are just depressing to watch. Writer-director Michael Linn manages to keep the material moving, despite the inevitability of the outcome, especially thanks to the romance between Michelle and Michael. This is a wonderful film and it was wonderfully made. But I was surprised that this film had a central theme that will leave you thinking about it long after the film has ended.
Their lives are filled with laughter as they plan for a future together. I worked in radiology at the time of the surgery and sat front row as she went through the first stages. Definitely a 5 star for me and would watch it again! Michael and Michelle's struggle tests the limits of their faith and commitment. The fact that it works at all is a testament to Woll and Grimes palpable connection. Another was excellent, subtle acting. Editing, filming, music, all were really well done.
I could really identify with the brother Matt in this film, as I have lost 2 siblings in the past and struggled with my own depression regarding this. Today I attended a birthday celebration with my family for a woman that has been battling brain cancer literally since her birthday last year. Many times when families are going through a rough time people just reach out to the parents. Confined to a hospital, his Christian faith is tested as never before, especially when his beliefs are confronted by a fellow patient who is a proud atheist.
The way their relationship is portrayed contains a lot of depth that draws viewers into the story. She is on hospice now and not speaking but teared up as we sang her happy birthday from her bed. Until Forever is a film about the strength of love in the midst of fear, the endurance of hope in the midst of loss and the reality of faith in the midst of doubt. At the end, there are clips of the real Michael Boyum, Michelle, and his family. I actually watched it to see if the chemistry Deborah Ann Woll and Luke Grimes exhibited in True Blood would carry over into this other project they did together answer: Definitely! Strangely enough, Luke Grimes' Charlie makes far more sense, though his character does develop rapidly and sometimes confusingly.
It was so touching and I know I probably won't see her again on earth, but in God's timing I want to share this story with family members that are struggling with their faith because of her terminal illness. Although once his backstory is revealed, maybe some of that can be explained. Yet they come to learn that miracles can come in the most unexpected ways. We were both very moved after watching this moment. The mom of Michael Boyum in real life pushed for so many years since his death to have his story told. I didn't really have any idea what to expect from this film.
Their romance is nearly instantaneous, and thats problematic. Until Forever is a powerful account of one young man's courageous battle with cancer and his spiritual journey throughout the ordeal. But for what its worth, I recommend people give this one a view. Wow, what a beautiful life story for these families! Now they are confronted by circumstances that will test the boundaries of their commitment. This was really hard to do and very important, if I understand correctly, to truly honor the way that Michael saw God, as depicted in this story.
This movie also gave a a very positive message, to never give up and that miracles do happen. Amazon and the Amazon logo are trademarks of Amazon. But we hurt too and have just as difficult of a time time dealing with the battle. While the story is essentially a tearjerker, there are a number of inspiring stops along the way. It feels like this movie was grossly upvoted by its target audience Christians. Based on a true-story, my husband and I were impressed with how thought-provoking it was in the true-to life questions that are asked as the protagonists face cancer and loss. It makes you stop and think there is more to life than stressing about the little things.
