Believed to be the result of an ancient Greek curse, it turns human bodies into a mass of snakes. I want to learn more and read more about it. Is it by individual or by each offense? The down side of this writing style is feeling as if nothing as been accomplished and the series is going nowhere fast. I have to say, I'm pretty indifferent. I admit I had fun even as I rolled my eyes. Anita has stated it in past books.
And they never turn fully into snakes like a regular were-animals, but they do seem to go kind of insane as more and more of them turns randomly into snakes whenever they're upset or whatever. That band-aid has now been torn off. These take up at least 25% of the book. For much of the series, Anita keeps to her city and has only left it a handful of times before about a third of the novels are set outside of St. But as I said before, at least her vagina didn't save the day this time.
His interactions with Anita are always a treat to follow! I sometimes take a long time to read them after their releases, but I do it anyway. Is this the universe telling you to swallow your pride? If not that, then only her super special lycanthrope strength. It is a character full of complexity and completely psychopathic but I love it! Overall: no, I don't recommend this book. It's an almost cult-like view of the world, and it's a tired nail that gets hammered in every book. The car spinning out leads Anita to sitting in Bernardo's lap for the rest of the drive.
Oh I really like that one! The last book was about 90 pages of incoherent plot and 400 pages of filler. Like, to this whole family who went along with kidnapping and murder. Just make them happy and leave it at that. In this one, we're in f So. Overall, I begin to notice a slight improvement in the last few books of the series and I hope that the future books will be even better, like they used to be years ago. A lot of things from earlier in the series are in this one, though not all of them have an impact on the plot.
Ugh this breaks my heart that a beloved series has gone down the drain like this. The Anita we see in Bloody Bones, tentatively seeing the humanity in Jean Claude, would be hard-pressed to recognize the humanity in the version of herself that has been running around the Anitaverse for the past ten years. For an urban fantasy about a female character who is supposed to be straightforward and drama free, it is odd to see how the past 10+ books revolve around feelings. Anita: I hate this woman. But before the 65% point there was a lot of feelings, mono-logging, feelings, psychoanalyzing, and more discussions about.
The actual plot and reason I keep reading these things will be crammed in at the very end and I'll find myself wishing the story was given to someone who cared about it. The 25% of the book that is action is still done well. Even the relationship drama is unresolved. I received a copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads well, i'm not sure where to go with this review. I sometimes take a long time to read them after their releases, but I do it anyway. The saga of Edward's marriage feels rushed and repeated. I was actually really interested in this new bit of what the fuck going on.
The sex scenes were few and stilted. Anita gets her dress fitted, Edward shows up, and Dixie calls him a cheating bastard and walks out. He believes in democracy and good will among people, and chafes against any hierarchy that places the strong high above the weak. They fire at it and Edward uses a flamethrower, and other police join them, eventually killing it. Mara and her beloved have settled their personal and metaphysical issues and are looking forward to a relaxing weekend together. When this came up for review I decided I'd give one of my favorite authors another chance.
There's bickering about who gets to have Anita's attention and even Nathaniel became a bit whiny! Start by saying that I've been a fan for many years of the Anita Blake series and i've read them all. We already know that Anita is supposed to be the toughest badass in the Anitaverse. Anita, Nathaniel, and Micah fly out for the wedding with Rodina, Ru, , and Nicky as their guards. For me, the biggest draw back to this series is how a walk down the hall can take two chapters as conversations take place that can happen once they reach their destination. Donna's insecurities are annoying and off putting. I haven't read it yet.
The mystery can only be solved with the power of her vagina. The usual, but somehow worse. This book is not an exception. Also, for someone who's supposed to be so knowledgeable and such about wereanimals- he's an idiot. So Micah and Anita's first stop is Melanie, the lamia who was kind of a villain from one of the early books in the series, who is now, conveniently, working for Jean-Claude as one of his side-show acts at one of his clubs. That's not what the story is about but that's the message that's getting thrown around with gusto. I actually wanted to read about the wedding itself.
