I am running Windows 10 x64. I stumpled across this posting while searching for a solution online. I've never seen that happen when self-protection early start is disabled. I think the reason it was in my System Tray yesterday is because it had an orange exclamation point on the icon and I got a window asking me to turn the virus protection on. I'm not sure if Webroot Spysweeper has or not a resident that avoid avast to add startup items. The icon is gone again this morning when I turned my computer back on.
