Assuming I need a new spring or latch, the problem is that I can't get inside the tonneau cover. A lot of people have problems with their convertible tops. October 6, 2017 Followup from the Pelican Staff: Check if the trunk is fully closed or is the wiring for the latch has been disturbed. I have to lower top for light to stop flashing. I cnt seem to find a picture of them either.
I assume the plastic sleeve is stripped and or the gear on the pin is stripped although it does not look too bad. That is most likely the issue. Comments: New to me 96 318i with a manual top I unlock at the front and go to the rear to pull the unlock for the boot but the top itself doesn't unlock I am at my wits end as i need to replace a bad shock and cannot get to the top bolt any help would be greatly appreciated I removed the rear seat looking for the release cable and there isn't one. I understand there is a manual way to disengage the windshield latches? I don't want to spend anymore money on this problem. It looks like everything is working properly. I'm not understanding the issue and would appreciate any guidance if anyone out there has ever dealt with this before. If the switches aren't working, the light will flash and it won't move. If I don't push button down the lid stays up and the next time I start the car it is a bit higher and so on and so forth. Where can I check the fluid level? What could be wrong, or need adjustment? It is completely closed and when I try to open it the switch just flashes and the motor for the top makes a loud noise and sounds as if it's trying to complete the cycle of closing with no movement. I would check the microswitch status in each top position. Is this something that can be purchased? If the roof is not lowering or raising the proper amount, you can adjust this by turning the adjustment turnbuckle shown by the green arrow. I did the emergency top lever and the manual reset on the roll bars.
This kit contains the parts necessary to repair the inner rope on one side of the Column C insert. One of these sensors checks the position and operation of the window. Go ahead and remove the interior panel that has the handle attached to is and see what you can see. I strongly suspect the fault is to be found in the rubber seal of the top hitting the frame of the window. My fear is that when I go to lower the top again the same thing will happen and I will strip the assembly again, so Im just trying to cover my bases and ensure that wont happen, any suggestions would be helpful. I've pulled the manual release lever and can't get either motor to re-engage.
I read manual and it stated to give it a little support by hand but I have only gotten it to lock on passenger side and not drivers side. Both motors disengaged, top is released from windshield about 10 inches. When putting the top down, the back of the top does not come up far enough to allow the cover to clear when it opens. When I hit the blinking button, it does not spin but I can hear the motor turning. The blue arrow points to the cam that drives the bottom part of the convertible top. Replacement of these pieces requires you rethread some of the rope in the top assembly. I'm about 90% clear on the process, but have no idea how to get to the attachment point at the front the one using the long steel pin.
If a E36, the tension straps may be worn out. The item must be new and in its original manufacturer packaging to be eligible for a cash refund. Everything here is for a E36. Any help, part kits, instructions will be appreciated. If these springs break or weaken, it can affect the ability of the roof to raise and lower itself properly.
I saw the suggestion was a bent frame. Also check the convertible module for fault codes. The motor keeps going but it doesn't respond. If renewing your roof, you should replace these springs. Contains 1,000 millimeters tension rope and five aluminum links.
It's like the top motor in the header is getting no power or signal. I have tried adjusting the rods which drive the rear of the top upward, but I can't get it up enough to allow the cover to clear. Do I have your authorization to proceed? In all cases, refunds can only be issued once we receive the unwanted or faulty goods back. January 26, 2018 Followup from the Pelican Staff: Can you share photos of the holes and the area it is pinching? I've tried re-syncing the top but it doesnt help. February 25, 2017 Followup from the Pelican Staff: If you can see the Bowden tube the tube which houses the cable I have had luck with other applications by pulling on the Bowden tube while working the handle. If the original item or suitable replacement part is not available, then this warranty is void.
