I think this is my best bet. If electrical current is not available at either of those terminals, then the no-start condition is caused by an electrical or electronic failure and not necessarily by the starter motor. I would check for a good start signal to the starter motor, and good battery voltage supply to the starter and engine.
August 9, 2016 Followup from the Pelican Staff: Hitting starter motors was not a good idea when they used permanent magnets, now with electromagnets damage can occur quite easily. You may turn the key and attempt to crank the engine but nothing happens. That night I put the air flow system parts back on, the cabin filter tray, etc. If you jump the car it will start. .

Thanks for the additional info and feedback. Check for the star signal, also voltage drop test the battery cables. I picked up my car from the dealer and noticed that the turbos on my vehicle were not spooling up at all, no power what's so ever. There are many more common causes for a no start — like a dead battery, worn out starter, faulty brake pedal switch, etc. You can do it without taking off the manifold. It was fine Saturday,but when I got up Sunday it wouldn't start.

Difficult job if you don't know your way around an e46, I would say double the time if you've never done a big job before. Bought new starter and it has no R terminal connection like the original starter taken off the vehicle. September 6, 2016 Followup from the Pelican Staff: I would suggest using a long extension from below. The typical symptom is a clicking sound while attempting to start the car. For removing the old motor, you may need a release tool.
Voltage drop test the battery cables to the starter and battery. Due to old and new software conflict the turbo boost did not work. The following photos show the intake manifold removed for clarity. I guess my next step is to remove starter and hope that is where the problem lies. I took out the starter becouse it was failing. Be sure the key is removed from the vehicle.
