I enjoy horror, it's most of all I watch anymore, and naturally, I rewatch a lot of films as well, so I've seen Cabin in the Woods two more times since 2012, the final time being in 2015 and what I found is I begin to appreciate the movie less and less as I watch it. On July 20, 2011, Lionsgate announced that they had acquired the distribution rights to the film and set a release date of April 13, 2012. This is where we say to ourselves that because this is a horror movie, everyone will die, and thus we already know the ending. It's an exercise in that, while providing grisly fun, never distances viewers.
I almost find the movie a mockery of the genre rather than a Love letter to it, which, admittedly can be a very fine line. It was lots of fun to watch and just got more exciting.
