The other major issue which is very common with this vehicle is the van runs great until it doesn't then there seems to be no definite fix. The starter and wiring harness have been replaced. Brought vehicle to Chrysler for win module recall fix and explained what was happening. Will post soultion when I find it. I have to unplug the fuse to the fuel pump every time I get out of the vehicle because the fuel pump keeps running draining my battery.
Cheapest fix is to go to salvage yard and get a complete new circuit board. It just quit starting one day. I can't keep taking my vehicle in and having it worked on. Every time the vehicle was turned off, the fuel pump motor continued to run until the battery was drained. If no spark then you have found the culprit.
This needs to be fixed before someone either gets hurt or killed. I hear that this is a giant issue with Chrysler. The contact stated that the wireless key malfunctioned. It was determined that the alternator went out but also fried the electrical system resulting in needing the tipm and ecm replaced. I have taken it to two Chrysler dealers and they have kept it for several days and then they tell me they can't find the problem, the dealers say when they have the van hooked up to their diagnosed machine the test does not duplicate. It continued with gauges malfunctioning, headlights and stereo shut down.
With today's age of information im sie you are aware of the problem others are having, please urse this to your advantage and fix this difficult to diagnose and expensive problem. I am now seeing that it is a tipm issue. By time a tech came to get it, it started right up. I will put my foot on the brake and then push the button, and it sounds like it starts but then it doesn't, or maybe it starts for a moment and then cuts out. I suggest you to check out this help links given.
The manufacturer was not notified. Within six months, I started having problems with the push button ignition. I can't even count the times I have been told well maybe it's this or that and we fix it only to drive it and find myself and kids stranded somewhere because it won't start again. This is very infrequent but has gotten a little worse. I did this because I'm soooo tired of them saying it didn't happen to them and there are no error codes. After having many older vehicles throughout my life with many many problems, my husband and I decided to over extend ourselves with a car payment in the hope that it would be more reliable and help us to earn more money and spend less in repairs. The dealer was not contacted.
As a mechanic this had me intrigued. I told them they'd had that for a week. You can get quite a jolt if you handle the wire while the car is being cranked. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. My car was in motion several times and cut off and then just would not start. The van stalled dangerously in traffic.
It started a few months ago when my van wouldn't start. Based on what I have read, if the problem doesn't happen at the dealer, they won't be able to diagnose. The key fob was difficult to get into the ignition. I called my case worker back. Fast forward 1 year later and my vehicle begins to intermittently spudder when coming to a complete stop.
Van was in motion or stationary. Afraid that this is going to happen while turning across oncoming traffic or in a situation where we can not pull over to safety and will get rear-ended. When the contact placed the key into the ignition, it would not start. I left out some details. The failure mileage was approximately 94,000. My mechanic thought it was the starter. I pieced the wire back together and hit the key and the car started.
