No matter, I just installed the Trial version and upgrade to the real thing readily enough. Since uninstalling the program didn't work it looks like I am stuck with this ad for the life of my computer but Corel just lost a long term customer the last time it popped up and crashed my game of Skyrim losing hours of gameplay. The Corel Painter 2017 is great fun with seemingly endless creative potential. There are so many improvements and cool creative options that it's kind of hard to describe them, but things like glazing brushes that let you change opacity on the fly by pressure really offer a tactile way to blend tonalities and built tonalities up. The program just has to feel right.
Both are aimed at art professionals and business, rather than the casual home user. After years of using the Bamboo pad, I just don't like looking up at a screen while I draw. As I dug deeper, it felt like much of the same from last year, aside from the new features, some of which are pretty cool. Unable to install Painter or Painter Essentials from disc or download. Having said all of this, I absolutely love this program and when I start my annual December-sabbatical, I'm going to explore the hidden tools of this program. So for anyone who hates being nagged to buy more stuff, either because they don't like the interruption or don't want to buy more, just go into the software be sure to visit the more brushes online option under the Brushes menu because you might just find something really fun in there.
Although this box comes with a disc to install from, my laptop doesn't actually have an optical drive nor do I have an external drive to attach to it. I kept hearing i would get used to that, but I really haven't. So as far as install goes, it was fairly painless. The downside is that due to this not being as popular a product with as long a sales history there are not nearly as many books, online videos, websites or discussion forums to help you figure out the various features, which are fairly mind-boggling in their depth. I have tried a lot of other software programs for transforming my photos into more of an illustrative look and some like the Exposure X bundle from Alien Skin have some cool options, but they are not drawing programs per se. This software was originally produced by Corel Corporation.
I am just using the stylus and drawing directly on the screen. I am a hobbyist, so I am not consistent at all with my skill level, but I am practicing moving from sketched work to something finished and refined which means working with layers. This is the only tool I really need though to do what i want to do online in terms of digital artwork and manipulations. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that in spite of this being a far more advanced and professional program than I have ever tried to use, it is presented in a way that makes it extremely simple to understand; even for the beginner. Number one: This is an Advanced-- Professional-level software and you should only consider this if you're an experienced painter and want to make a serious commitment to digital painting. Those comparisons aside, Corel Painter 2017 is a much different animal in a number of respects. This will require some sort of tutorial or books on these features. It's pretty easy for photo manipulation, and offers a lot of tools. I have a couple of pen tablets- a smaller one from Wacom and I have a larger one from Huion which I bought here on Amazon when my old Wacom Graphire 3 developed a wiring shortage. Corel Painter 2017 is software designed for painters to use on a digital, virtual canvas. I have been a paying customer of Corel for years. I am no expert artist here. The first thing I noticed was that it still doesn't have enough undo levels for my liking. There is quite a bit of terminology that is the same between the two, but it is not going to be like changing from Microsoft Word to WordPerfect, for example. She did however move the issue to someone else who emailed me once a week ago and I have not heard from him since.
Also, there are so many new brushes options and pattern pens, that just exploring them all will take me months. This is professional-level digital software for artists, that they can use to earn a living with. A lot of other expensive Windows software has the same requirements though, so you will just need to decide what your security and privacy is worth before purchasing such products. . What I found through this though was they released an Exclusive Pack that included a fur brush that is just incredibly fun to use! This is a true art program, a true freehand program that works wonderfully with photos and lets you take your photos into an entirely different realm. Moving on, the mirror painting mode is pretty awesome.
I am a photographer and have been using Photoshop since 1993. The sensitivity is not nearly as good as the Wacom pens, but I love writing on a screen vs drawing and looking at a screen. The two certainly seem to have a lot in common. This version will be my last because it installs a pop-up ad down deep in the bowels of your computer that even Corel techs don't know how to remove. It is a powerful tool, but only in the hands of someone who has spent many, many hours learning how it works and has an aptitude for art to begin with. And, two: You'll need either a pen tablet or a pen monitor. After watching some of them several times, I was eager to get started on a project to see if it really was as doable as the tutorials made it seem, It definitely is! This is an advance software.
I'm thinking of taking an online class in this software if I can find one, just to speed up the learning. At install I let Corel keep me informed of updates, brushes etc. Going back to my point about having painting experience before purchasing painter, I think, cannot be overstated. The higher the resolution, the better the level of detail you will get in your project. I really like just sketching on real life paper sketch pads but what drives me to software is the coloring, the backgrounds, and the want to try it slightly differently but not start over.
