I'm thinking in about a month a code will pop up and it will be one of the other valves. All I know is that I had messed around cleaning the throttle body which was actually easier than you think. Under certain conditions when driving in cold and or wet weather a squeaking or crunching type noise may be heard from the vehicle sub frame bushings. Plastic residue on the shifter fork see photo below may prevent the shifter from returning to D drive mode from Geartronic mode. Lou says that they do not have the parts to correct the problem and have ordered them.
Volvo uses phased timing where the position of the cam lobe is advanced or retarded relative to the crank position. The noise can be heard under the following conditions: Driving on uneven roads or other large imperfections in the road, especially during right-hand turns. It is usually the 2-3 upshift that flares the most. The angle gear itself does not normally need to be replaced. To remove the left hand side engine cover, you need to undo the 2 clips highlighted in the yellow circles and lift the cover.
The new solenoid is a bit tricky. In timed mode, when the recirculation button is pressed, the system recirculates air for 5 to 12 minutes, depending on outside air temperature, and then reverts to fresh air. You have a little leeway because the wires that come with the new solenoid are fairly long. The noise usually occurs when the body undergoes a twisting flexing motion. I requested that they fix my top speed to 155 instead of 130mph, increase the heat on my seats and also that they dim my rearview mirror noting that it required a download. Sorry for not taking more pics, but here is my best artist's representation of what I did! The pulse wheel for the timing belt is located on the Continuous Variable Valve Timing unit outer cover. The replacement that I got looks like this and does not just easily connect into the old system thanks Volvo.
This happened to me today. The symptom is usually more apparent during the first few minutes of driving after a cold start. Driver Information Module upgrade software has been developed to correct this concern. Apparently he was going to email a few others and see if anyone else had come across this problem. When the brake pedal is released, the re-engagement of Drive should be relatively smooth.
Just got the 'reduced engine performance' message again last night, in limp mode. All Volvo supplied parts are made to specifications by Volvo and under their strict quality control guidelines. This will also prevent the car from going into park or neutral so if the engine is shut off, the engine will not be able to be restarted. Even though the gear selector is in the Drive position, a Neutral condition is engaged hydraulically in the transmission. Mode Memory: If the vehicle is switched off while recirculation timer mode is active, timer mode will still be active when the vehicle is restarted.
An engine Software is now available to address this condition. However in certain cases, this may cause the vehicle to fail a state inspection or Smog Check test. Thanks Jojhoe This same exact problem just happened to me about 1 hour ago. The dimming of the rear view mirror should be covered under the 12 month adjustment period. I have an 06 V70R and I am having a very similar problem as the one noted above.
I haven't taken my car to the dealer yet for service or scheduled maintenance as I tend to be leary of dealers and their outrageous prices. Accelerating the vehicle in Winter mode will help raise the fluid temperature if it is below 65 degC 150 degF. I can't tell if it's the turbo or the transmission or something else, but I do notice that I can take it out of Drive and use the triptronic shifter and it seems like it's working correctly. I re-start and get to work safely. Strip the ends of those wires about a half inch or a little less. This slight contamination is easy to overlook and will result in a repeat transmission failure.
The Phone Module must be removed from the vehicle after downloading software as described below. So I'll go for the new one from tascaparts. The noise may be heard with the engine on or off, and may also be felt in the steering wheel. Anyone who can help - thank you in advance, I really appreciate it. I should mention, it is a very misty, rainy day, maybe some ignition problems, plugs, etc in these conditions? The symptom may also be described as a harsh downshift just before coming to a stop.
