In my opinion, no matter how slapstick a series is or how little continuity there is between episodes, there has to be a line to be drawn somewhere, otherwise we may soon get a story where Donald and Scrooge must hide themselves from hunters Duffy Duck-style. The story was written by Darrick Bachman. My only complaint about this series is the episode length. I enjoyed this episode way more than I thought I would. Good to see Gus again in animation, tough I imagine he is not living with Grandma Duck and is still different from his comic book version.
Posted on December 9, 2016 Mickey Mouse and his pals are getting ready to celebrate the holidays in a style all their own this year. If you like the old late-'90s cartoons like Freakazoid, Powerpuff Girls, or Johnny Bravo then you'll like this. The latest of the new Mickey Mouse shorts series, Duck the Halls: A Mickey Mouse Christmas Special, premiering Friday December 9th 8:30-9:00 p. In a brand new, extended-length Mickey Mouse cartoon that premieres tonight on Disney Channel, Donald Duck decides to stay home and enjoy a winter wonderland Christmas instead of migrating South with all the other ducks for the winter.
The story was written by Darrick Bachman. This is basically my mother at Christmas. One of the best things about this short was the animation. We really enjoyed this, but it should be noted that this is very much in the style of the recent Mickey Mouse cartoon shorts. But based on this we can't really say if he is still living on Grandma's farm or not.
Also, it felt like it was trying too much to imitate the competition. Yes, I realize that there were the early shorts like Steamboat Willie from 1928, that had a very over exaggerated, rubber hose style. But it looks as if I was wrong. It was absolutely hilarious and a great way to kick off the holiday season. Mickey's family And we also get the names of some to now unknown family members. The humor seemed a little gross, and not in the traditional spirit. A great mix of old and new.
Jenny Gase-Baker and Joseph Holt are the art directors and Illya Owens is the editor. Instead I thought it would be fun to take a look at the best gags that made this episode so hilarious. The humor in the show appeals to both kids and adults, and is a little more intense than the old-fashioned Mickey cartoons from the '40s, so be aware of that. That is, until the kids push Mickey too far and force him to tell a truly terrifying tale. His personality is completely different, too. Part of the Emmy Award- and Annie Award-winning Mickey Mouse cartoons, the holiday special includes appearances by Uncle Scrooge McDuck, nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie, Professor Ludwig Von Drake, Gus Goose and Santa Claus, among others.
We get a flashback scene with Mickey as a kid and Pluto as a pup. This new Mickey Mouse special has quickly become one of my favorite Christmas movies. I seriously watched this part several times because it was so good. This Disney special doesn't force a religious aspect in fact, the only religious scene is a brief parody? If you haven't been following those, and come to this nostalgically expecting Mickey Mouse from the 1950's, then some of the humor here will be jarring, if not horrifying. Animation World Network ' ; jQuery document.
I saw it last year when it premiered and couldn't wait for it to be back this year! Another funny moment is when Mickey, Goofy, Minnie, and Pluto decide to hijack Santa's sleigh instead of asking for his help which is what I thought was going to happen. As Santa offers Christmas magic, Pluto gets turned into a reindeer because, why not? Maybe it was that good old Donald laugh being equated to the sound of a blender and realizing how close that sound is. Overall though, this was an interesting and very welcome change to Disney's animation and style. If there's anything I can compare him to it's Patrick Star. In this scene, his tongue literally freezes off from catching a single snowflake on it. The main cast have also had character design upgrades to go along with the new style of animation and humor. The animation looks like it was done in a North Korean Sweatshop -- by people who have never seen seen a Disney animation.
It has a nice message behind it with a wonderfully comedic story to follow. He just gets more sickly as time progresses. But Disney soon started moving towards animation that was more subtle and lifelike. He likes this one as well. The music is by Christopher Willis.
It was just really different. The character are wonderful and true to Disney Universe. It also reminded me of something that just wasn't inherently Disney? Mickey worries that he doesn't have what it takes to be scary. The voice actors did a terrific job on this series, keeping true to the original characters. Gus doesn't have a big role in this special, we just see him making a tropical smoothie with no Grandma in sight. The only problem is that Mickey's stories are anything but scary, and now the kids are whipped into a demanding frenzy. From all of us — to all of you… A modern Disney Christmas special that even your own Uncle Scrooge will like.
I'm sure the creators know that lots of stories with Donald during the winter exist. If you enjoy those, this is more of the same, but longer and with Christmas. One particular moment was the sing along that follows Donald's steady decline as he tries to withstand the winter temperature. In Duck the Halls, Donald Duck opts to stay put when his flock of family and friends migrate south for the winter, and finally gets to enjoy his first Christmas winter wonderland with the most enthusiastic holiday reveler ever, Mickey Mouse, along with Minnie, Pluto and Goofy. It's actually the longest Mickey Mouse short, as of this writing, to date, so there is that. This is a slight nitpick, but I was thinking that it was going to be an hour long special. He likes Mickey and the gang, and I appreciate the humor that goes over the kid's head.
