Like I said I have windows on my usb the way they told me to create the recovery and I have no clue what to do to access the usb to redo my computer… Is there a simple code to type into grub? I had to revert to Ubuntu v14. I will not spent too much time on this particular backup method, I store all my files on my , so anything on my computer can go anyway. Then the installation can be completed as you normally would. Be very careful with this command and check for typos before running it. It will right away seek a suitable drive. I have 8Gb of memory in my laptop so the swap size will be 16 Gb. I have not tried this, but I would assume that the regular dual boot install for Ubuntu would work just fine. In you case, I would just take about 100Gb or if you need lees; less than 100Gb for Ubuntu. If I am, I hope everything is running well with your dual boot setup.

The most likely complicating factor is if there are old or alternative ubuntu boot entries. Guess this is my final update: The entry in {fwbootmgr} works if I go to the bios settings, there I see Ubuntu, and when I select it to override default boot Ubuntu works perfectly. My upgrade to Windows 10 was fairly smooth but a few things are not working as well as I'd like and I'd prefer to start anew. This is the menu I want by default.
Dual boot windows 10 and Ubuntu If you've not selected the first option, then just click on the Install Ubuntu shortcut on the desktop, else the system will start the installer directly. Donation options Donations are very much appreciated, but not required. The computer is now ready to be used with Ubuntu 12. . Note : Windows 8 and newer will very likely work much the same way. However, with Windows 10, those hurdles could be returning. This change will make it easier to change the default item later. In these cases there will be a single primary partition with the Windows boot files which needs to be marked as active, and you will need to identify which this is.
I will mark this thread solved. After this, the Ubuntu installation can finally start. I know it's no big deal. This is especially important if power goes out and comes back; I won't even be in the house. I have an Acer S7 191-6440 and all my settings and screenshots match the one you posted in the tutorial. This is true in Ubuntu, Mint, and Puppy Linux. After all of the suggestions I have found and tried, on this site and a couple of others, I finally got it.
Disable this feature see above , although I doubt this is causing the problem. Wubi install failed first time after downloading the iso couldn't extract. I want to use Windows boot manager. I really apriciate your help! However, it does not appear to support hybernation. Let me know what to check and I will post the output here.
I'll be soon making a video about dual booting stay tuned. My main concern is still the booting part. In other cases, you will need a Windows installation or repair disc as described above. But at time of installing, I tried to install boot-repair in ubuntu but it gave me some error. If you desperately need a swap space, you can you a swap file instead. There are also more exotic configurations where two versions of Windows have been installed to the same hard drive, or where the main Windows partition is a logical one.
