On all five controls, the second of the two buttons flips the gain control between cut and boost. Each of the two channels offers three parametric bands with a switchable Q. Of course, the stepped potentiometers are a big help in matching the channels, but the scaling can only be read well from a shorter distance, which makes it a little bit difficult to comprehend what the unit is doing at a quick glance. Click a knob, and then you can scroll with the mouse. And the active button is used as a bypass.
The combination of these elements aims at maximum signal quality and guarantees clean and powerful sound characteristics even when extreme settings are used. The bottom knobs are what you use to select the frequency. Elysia is back with another software version of one of its game-changing pieces of hardware. To cut, use the right button under each knob red in the image above and the top knob now cuts rather than boosts but still turn the knob to the right. Since the odds of running into the Manley in a professional studio are much higher, it might make more sense to be comfortable with how that works. The stepped controllers are especially dedicated to mastering applications.
Well, put simply, this awesome analog equalizer is a combination of premium sound-shaping capabilities with optimally-matched parameters and the highest- quality components — 100% discrete analog technology circuit design, permanent class-A mode signal processing using single transistors, and much more besides — enabling users to speedily achieve amazing-sounding musical results with the greatest of ease. These pots are selected and matched by Ruben Tilgner especially for the museq, by the way. The Free Two-Day Shipping icon will appear next to the items that typically arrive in two days. Frequency response: 200 kHz -0. Each of the five gain controllers per side can be altered from boost to cut with a single switch, for easy location of problem frequencies and twice the number of available gain steps. The asking price is certainly not nothing, but quality without comprise always comes at a price.
If you have never looked at this little character you really should. Finally, the Warm setting models an analogue slew-rate limiter, very subtly softening sharp transients. While there are labelled frequencies, the knobs fully rotate there is no detent forcing you to use only those frequencies labelled. Parallel Filter Design - A special circuit trick makes it possible to leave the high and middle frequencies completely untouched when using the high and low pass filters. Find out more in the intro video above.
Pure Transparency Path - The puristic design of the filter stages with current feedback amplifier stages and without any coupling capacitors results in an outstanding sound quality. Also alt option clicking on a button cycles it between 0 and your last setting. If the link button is engaged, then adjusting the left unit also adjusts the right unit, and they act as a linked stereo pair. The signal paths are kept as short as possible to honor the audiophile approach as well. And for fine tuning, hold down the shift key. This is absolutely normal for a class-A device with quite a lot of amplifiers, and elysia have provided enough ventilation holes to prevent the unit from getting too hot. While processing mono signals is a no-brainer, working with stereo sources requires some attention.
One nice feature is the mouse wheel support. This kind of design polarizes, this much is for sure, but it is a good thing as it helps to generate a unique profile. Thus, Everything Recording was born. Also, problematic frequency areas can be easily spotted in boost mode and then eliminated by just switching the filter into cut mode. In order to understand what is unique about the elysia units it is important to have a look at the technical design, because it is absolutely flawless. The gain control, therefore, ranges from 0dB when fully left, to 15dB when fully right, instead of having a centre indent at 0dB. That too has a Mix and Master version, and pretty good frequency coverage, although that only covers 4 bands, whereas the Museq covers 5.
To keep the signal quality as high as possible, museq uses varying levels of oversampling, depending on the host project sample rate: under 50kHz it uses 4x, at 51-100kHz it uses 2x, and for rates higher than 100kHz, oversampling is disabled. Helpfully, the elysia museq license includes two plug-ins in one — a fully-fledged Master version with all the bells and whistles, plus a slightly simplified Mix version for easy, speedy setup. In the cut mode, a resonance peak keeps the knee frequency from sounding overly damped, reminiscent of inductor circuits in classic designs. The left then becomes the Mid and the right becomes the Side. Much faster than dragging the knobs. Moreover, the impressive features found on the original hardware are all present and accounted for here, including the outstanding resonant high-pass and lowpass filters switchable to high and low shelf types and the Warm mode sound shaper to bring transparency, coloration, or both to the mix.
. But it is not only the electronic design that sets standards, but the mechanical build quality as well. Such minor points made, though, no matter what kind of music you're making, museq would make a truly luxurious in both the price and quality sense of the word addition to your plugins folder. The inner three bands have a peaking characteristic, while the outer filters are shelving types. The tone always remains silky and never fades into unattractive harshness. Perhaps more usefully, though, it does a great job of softening individual mix elements to create a subtle sense of separation.
