Transmission problem 2002 Ford Excursion Two Wheel Drive Automatic 144500 miles My 2002 Ford Excursion V10 has recently been having some transmission problems. I searched here and it seems most guys say this is a C. Is it flashing any fault codes. The Ford dealership told me it is a transmission electrical problem. Also, we are supposed to get another foot of snow tomorrow night. Also did a vacuum check on it. No more engine light, transmission shift smoothly.
Had a new rear main seal on the engine put on then. I do not think you have a problem with transmission itself the output speed sensor helps the transmission shift properly. Turned off ignition and restarted. Also I cannot find a replacement sensor anywhere so I'm wondering if this is a generic code. Transmission problem 2002 Ford Excursion Two Wheel Drive Automatic 144500 miles My 2002 Ford Excursion V10 has recently been having some transmission problems. I immediately wet fouled O2 sensors and spark plugs. Truck didn't run for 4 years.
Fluid is red, changed 6 months ago. You should also check that the spark plug gap is set properly. This calls for a bad Output Speed Sensor and my research says the sensor is on the back of the transmission but I cannot find any sensors on the transmission. Put the accelerator pedal to the floor and release it five times in less than five seconds. If you know where the sensor is, you only have to unclip the old sensor and replace it with a new one. Regardless of how you approach it, you should get this fixed right away.
What else should I be looking for? For example, if the sensor failed due to an engine leak, then the leak needs to be fixed, not just the sensor. What repairs can fix the P0720 code? Any help would be greatly appreciated. The only strange thing is the idle will raise for a min then drop down to almost a stall. I have searched and found a few threads of folks getting a p0720 code and truck revving and dying. Failure to follow the trouble code diagnosis protocol can result in the output speed sensor being erroneously replaced when a much simpler issue was the problem.
Pull over, retighten it, and take a look at the cap to see if it has any cracks in it. I cleared the P0720 code after it came up and it has not returned. This will not happen when shifting into Drive. I was thinking that turning the key on and opening the throttle wide open 4 times within 5 seconds engine off clears tranny codes, not sure about that tho. Turned off ignition and restarted.
For example, if the sensor failed due to an engine leak, then the leak needs to be fixed, not just the sensor. I go on a test drive and the light stays off , but when I go to re start it again the light come on and stays on, with the same code. When any issue is found, it should be resolved, and the codes should be reset.
When I start it to go home, the problem goes away and the lights no longer flash. How serious is the P0720 code? I go on a test drive and the light stays off , but when I go to re start it again the light come on and stays on, with the same code. The transmission has less then 1000 miles on it?!?!? Just bought this one last month and after two weeks of local driving the following problem showed up: 1. I replaced the sensor myself on the rear differential yesterday and thought the problem was fixed. The block in question is shown in the following photos. The solution is here : Ford Fusion P0720 Possible Solution : Disconnected, dirty or fouled spark plugs are common causes for engines that won't start.
Spark plugs typically need to be replaced every season or 25 hours of use. What are the common causes of code P0720? My question is: intermittent problem? I started and stopped the engine a few times and finally got it going. I can't seem to find the sensor listed on the typical auto part websites. It was over full by a quart though. I only have engine Code P0720 which seems to refer to a speed sensor.
