There are very few horror films that are like Halloween the first one and Nightmare on Elm Street the first one. I'm sure that this movie is more effective in the fear factor if you watch it on 3-D. But again, the continuity and stupidity of movie characters is at all an all time high here. It's name was Friday the 13th. Seriously, whoever wrote this should be embarrassed. Years have passed since young Jason drowned at Camp Crystal lake, and the rein of Pamela Voorhees Nana Visitor in a cameo has been cut short pun intended.
Still, Miner shows his talent in creating a scary, and dark setting. There are also numerous shots of Jason in the background waiting for his next victim to turn around to see him. If you can hire a black and an Asian actor to help diffuse all the shaggy-haired white boys, then why can't you hire an attractive black or Asian actress? The film is a reboot of the Friday the 13th film series, which began in 1980, and is the twelfth installment in the film series. Still, I liked this movie. Every scare worked, the 3D effects leaped right off the screen and lovingly poked us in the eye and when the film was over it got the longest applause I've ever seen a film get.
As legend has it, the last survivor of the attacks beheaded the woman. The original has that legendary moment that made people jump from their seats while the people who made this botched that opportunity because of a completely awful editing cut. Jason is back better than ever. The brother ends up at the cabin himself just before his sister's attacker sets upon them all. It's too much set up for Jason honestly. Last night, the Cameo Cinema in Edinburgh, screened an ultra-rare showing of Friday the 13th Part 3 in all it's gore-splattered 3D glory. The Friday the 13th remake is what it is and at the end of the day probably all that could realistically have been hoped for.
There are still all the trademark Friday elements; a lot of booze, a lot of pot and a lot of nudity which is overdone at times When Jason first rears his ugly head, he has not yet donned his hockey mask, and I was interested to see if they could have him happen across it in an uncontrived manner; I was pleased if not blown away. The police believe she took off with her boyfriend; but he knows better. First to go is an obnoxious trio of motorcycle thugs who harassed our heroes. To give credit where it is due, this film does a number of things with the Jason character that are certainly a relief. Friday the 13th should have been awesome.
Since the black guy can't get laid he's reduced to pleasuring himself while listening to whitey going at it upstairs. That is, horror films that not only scare, but have a good story and great direction. After a recap footage of the ending of the previous film, we see a scene where Jason recovers from the injury and escapes after Ginny and Paul leave his cabin in the woods. The cast was also bad. What ever happened to her? There are moments of tension to be certain, and the climax, like all Friday films, does not fail to disappoint.
The legend proves horribly true, as these campers quickly discover. They were counting their money while that cult icon drowned. Description A group of young adults set up tent near the abandoned summer camp where a series of gruesome murders are said to have taken place back in 1980. This isn't a movie you're supposed to think about too much. The film starts with a recap of the last scene from Part 2, where Jason is seen getting up after he is assumed dead.
Richard Brooker portrayed Jason in a good way, he knows how to act violent and looks like he's blood thirsty. You get to see more of Fox hanging from the barn and in a truly jaw dropping moment, you get to see all of Andy, chopped up after he gets split in two walking on his hands. The brother crosses paths with an uptight young rich guy who is having his girlfriend and friends over at his parents' cabin. Plus, on the television is the news about the massacre the night before saying that the killer has not been caught. Returning to the town of terror, much to the chagrin of the sheriff is Clay Miller Jared Padalecki who longs to find his sister Amanda Righetti who disappeared along with her friends a month prior.
Friday the 13th has an incredibly powerful first 15-20 minutes. All in all a terrible movie. Oh right, we're making him into Leatherface now. This means they had to actively decide it was a good idea to get rid of the evidence that they were not the manics that killed a bunch of people, but it also means that they had to take Jason out of the chipper, take the chain off his neck, remove his mask, and carry him all the way out to the dock. It really kicks off with a bang. This movie has plenty of gore, suspense, and some good scare scenes. And whenever she's frightened, she screams the cutest scream ever.
Another good thing about this movie is Dana Kimmell. But don't leave the theatre so soon, as the opening act is graced with a nifty twist that you will not see coming. Yoo's character was probably the funniest character to ever be in a Friday the 13th to date. The way the story unfolds, it is only the frantic ramblings of a few characters that claim a threat, which allows the others to wander to their bloody demises. The acting is regular, the best performance comes from Dana Kimmell. A van load of stupid twentysomethings head up to Crystal Lake for the weekend for no other purpose than to smoke pot and screw each other cross eyed. But what is excellent about this film are some of the same elements that made Halloween good.
In fact this movie raised nothing but questions. The gore was often even hard to make out because of the camera-work, too, which renders something like this almost completely pointless. Nispel for making an unscary, ugly-looking, suspense-free movie with bad acting, terrible dialogue, forgettable kills and annoying characters. The false scares, the open doors with no one there, the strange noises, the missing props that the character knows she had just a few seconds ago.
