You can, of course, add the addon and have it connect to your Gmail Calendar. So, at the moment I can't make that happen, but if I find a solution, I'll definitely implement it. You do miss out on Google Drive - but that's not really the purpose of an email client anyway. As has been stated elsewhere many times, the font-size is miniscule. However when you minimize the window and then restore it, it returns to the text having a small white border around it. The menus are very easy to navigate and the program overall looks clean and well put-together. With this free app you can: View and save attachments, set label notifications, create customized tabs, chat, turn any conversation into a video call with up to ten friends, establish a theme, and more.
Once these issues are resolved, I will be saying adios to Mozilla Thunderbird in favor of this handy app. This particular solution is more of a traditional email client. With eM Client you can work with your email, calendar, tasks, and contacts. It is quite unobtrusive and can be easily avoided. It does nothing special that a modern browser can't do. At the moment, I'm clueless as to why Gmail, and only Gmail, fails to render fonts in a normal size.
I know about the fonts, and I'm working hard to find a solution. Meanwhile, Google itself seems to be more focused on its Web-based and mobile efforts than rolling out desktop version for those apps that it hasn't already created a desktop version. Give one of these desktop clients a try and see if it doesn't wean you from your browser. I have the same problem with the fonts. Being a power user, I use Gmail almost exclusively via keyboard shortcuts and had to abandon the plugin at this point.
Set up of your Gmail account on Thunderbird is quite simple - no need to know the Gmail server addresses just create a new account, add your Gmail credentials and let Thunderbird handle the rest. Setting up Geary is as simple as adding your Gmail address and password. I love the idea and it looks like this could be a truly great application with a little more fine-tuning.
