I'm not saying that's a bad thing - after all, this is the kind of show that should be able to balance both the humor and the suspense - but it does result in the feeling that something's missing compared to what I got used to by now. Honestly, the big - if not the only - problem with this episode is that it wasn't as memorable as it's two predecessors. Unfortunately, the game's wizard materializes in Gravity Falls and they must find a way to reverse the curse. The twins try to adapt to the weird surroundings but sense there is something strange about Gravity Falls and begin to unlock its secrets.
Honestly, if your episode has Weird Al, it's hard to fail it. Overall, it was a pretty good episode. The use of these stereotypes is mixed up enough to make him a fun character, rather than be derivative or offensive. There's also a lot of impulse in between them, often setting up short-term and long-term disasters. However, with all the tense drama in the previous episode between our 2 Stans and how a good chunk of it oozed out into the 2nd act of this episode itself, I can only from hope here on out, everyone in the main cast whose last name is Pines can get along now - although with Dipper keeping a new secret now, that will be difficult. I know this isn't the first time this show had a villain like this, but I thought this show had moved past the season 1 monsters by this point. Series creator Alex Hirsch redubbed this character and is credited for doing so at the end of the episode.
And Grenda knows about Ford, way to keep your excise dent a secret Ford, I thought this was a funny episode, I also love Soos role playing club. The first 12 episodes mainly focus on Dipper, Mabel, Soos, and Wendy working on discovering the identity of the author of the journals, while Stan continues to work on operating the mysterious portal beneath the Mystery Shack. Because of how dangerous it could be, Ford keeps it safely tucked away in a cheap case with the other dice. The gun turns out to be a against Probabilitor's magic, and the ogre simply picks up Dipper and Ford by the scruffs of their necks.
