The movie was well directed and the actors were great especially Nestor Serrano who delivered a good performance as Vinny and the great John Leguizamo who also did a great performance as Johnny, Doug E. Hypocritically, he openly derides Willie's lack of employment. I also enjoyed the drama in the movie, which makes it more realistic and more worth watching. He is a sex-hound who tries to talk to every pretty girl he sees. The most memorable part of this film has to be when John Leguizamo discovers that the girl he is in love with is a totally different person, which makes him accept reality and inspires him to find a way out of the social state he currently is in. I liked the way one character is quietly encouraged by a girl to take a chance and go back to school, and the way another one - who sees racism in every slight, real or imagined - is able to start learning that he is not always a victim. Let's start with the cast. Young urban males are often seen only in terms of the fears they inspire, instead of for who they really are. Also Puerto Rican, Johnny is very proud of his heritage, unlike Vinny.

Director Joseph Vasquez did an excellent job of writing and producing this small-budget film.
The screenplay by , who also directed, is fairly conventional in giving each character a problem to solve, and then pushing him toward a solution, but the movie doesn't feel traditional, because Vasquez doesn't hammer his points home, he lets them develop naturally. It deals with a few morals to this film! You watch who you hang with at all times! Plus it gives you a turning point about going your separate ways! Doug had me laughing has well and Mario Joyner also did a Great job. Not too many people I know have seen it but when i show it to them they do enjoy it.
