I'm waiting for respond from staff about usage of security check, we cannot do many things if we don't know process running. One of the posters on this this forum in the performance sub-forum stated that he disabled svchost. Just wanted to make sure you were checking for virus's which seems like you are. In the web app player I set quality to original. The fact that this issue is plastered all over the web support forums with no resolution is very discouraging. That process is the last thing I would want to run on my laptop! Hopefully I will not have to buy a new laptop.
However, the emulator had been killed and the machine left idle while I was off doing other things for at least 30 minutes. Hey guys, I have the same issue as most of you guys here. Even with no visible applications displaying anything on the screen. After getting Windows 7, which I am very new to, to show me all of the processes actually running it turns out that it was windows media player sucking all my processor power. So your first step should be to try and regain control over your system, reducing the impact of the resource-hogging app and allowing access to other programs again.
Just watching them while nothing is running system for all practical purposes idle or darn close and even during the final stages of boot once Vista is up and running, but still not settled down, you do see some brief spikes where these meters go up quite a bit for several seconds. How did you obtain the 25-character product key for activating Windows 7? I don't think I notice this happening on my machine. Or should I normally see a flat line when idle? Process Explorer doesn't require any installation. The product key is shown by going to My Computer and clicking properties, on the same screen I posted here, I just cut it off because I don't know if someone else can use it or something. Task manager shows the System Idle process running at 98% or so, and the desktop manager taking 1 or 2 %. I have noticed that xentop shows cpu more accurately though then qubes manager in the past.
