The graphite facing material can withstand the motion of the cylinder head and block and the heat often experienced in a performance engine. I dont like using the screwdriver method mostly a in car head removal but I dont have a impact wrench or want to use a breaker bar and rest it on the frame and hit the starter as some people might do to loosen the crank bolt.
