With Help you've got this big unwanted screen jumping on to your desktop. I still really feel that there is some way of turning it on that I don't know about. But fortunately, I make caps lock and help both serve other useful purposes, and don't ever trigger numlock except when typing numbers into spreadsheets, so it's all good. All I know is that Windows is 10x more annoying because of the numlock key and the inability to use the keypad without hitting it first. While the green light is on, the combination keys with letters and numbers operate in a standard adding machine layout. I bought my computer, a macbook laptop, in December. I have to use the top row numbers and this means holding down the Upper Case key all the time.

When you engage the Num Lock key it deactivates most of the standard character keys, and allows you to type that third character that appears on the group of keys I mentioned before.
Hten today I searched the web for an answer, wrote in to Apple and then it hit me: there's a finctio called cursor keys I think that makes your numerical keypad into a mouse replacement by hitting Option five times in a row. I'd like to make NumLock freeware and share it with the world, but need your help to make that a reality. I just type a long missive about this and then decided that maybe the French were kinda different. Anyway, if we're talking about keys with negative value, really nothing else holds a candle to caps lock. I don't have any pictures on my f5 and f6 keys.

If you want to quickly type that third character you can even do it without engaging Num Lock. The light will light up when you press it, and you will be in num lock.
