This worked with Office 2010 previously installed and then a later Visio 2013 Pro installation that didn't provide the activation dialog. I am not able to activate the product and it has reduced to a read-only state. I had the same problem. It includes all of the functionality of Visio Standard 2013 as well as updated shapes, templates, and styles; enhanced support for team collaboration, including the ability for several people to work on a single diagram at the same time; and the ability to link diagrams to data. On the basis it may be a permissions issue, right click the Visio shortcut in the Windows start menu and run as administrator and then try and activate it. At one point I believe I'd also heard that our network might be blocking activation, but don't have a handle on how that would be coming into play exactly if at all. Could you consider bringing this string to the attention of the 2013-dev team Office. None knew how to address the issue. Maybe someone else will have a plan? Apart from repairing the installation from Control panel I have no more suggestions.
But they suggested I went to your present forum on the Activation issue. . I have already been through the 2013 team Visio , who kindly validated the specific RibbonX issue I raised for visio 2013, and then tagged it for the attention of their visio 2013 dev team. Select Product Key and the rest goes as expected. If that works, it should continue to work when started normally.
