I'm getting my pure white golf R Monday and will be looking to tint. Thinking about a bag and folding down the rear seats. I've never had any issues with it, otherwise I wouldnt be recommending it. The rack is really quiet without the bike mount, with the mount it's louder naturally and with the bike lots of howling as to be expected. The only drawback is that I must swap to a tiny, single-band ham radio antenna when the cargo box is mounted. Know a lot about mechanics and modding? I go for stuffed in the back of the car at the moment.
The boot on these models contains a very sutble spoiler which is stuck on with adhesive only. I have an electronics background and continue to work in the electronics engineering field. Everything I've read on other forums, everyone is crazy about the Thule racks, but I can't stand how the bars on them overhang the roof, it drives me nuts. However, it does not use the factory mounting points. I had intentionally positioned the racks forward on the trailer to avoid having any cargo protrude past the tailgate.

Looks like the sea sucker is the way to go. Tired of answering the same questions time and time again? It says not to do any towing with the car, but a bike rack does not apply the same loads as towing so I think it will be okay. My main goal with regards to crossbar placement was to ensure that would be able to swap directly between the car top and the trailer without adjustment.
I'm afraid to say there are only two options available, either roof mounted or stuffed in the back of the car. From what I can see, the distance from the top of the door opening to the spot when the roof bends into the gutter is longer and at a different angle than the 2013. I'd love to see some pics and hear some opinions! Also with the addition of the spolier the panel gap is reduced slightly so a hook will not slide into place. I had done a bit of research on mounting points and crossbar spreads. In the end, once it was mounted, I never took it off as it was quieter than the side mirrors, did not affect gas mileage, and added to the sportiness of the car. However you could not do it with a dual rack.

The noise test was first since it is easiest and fastest to do. There was no denying the marring to the paint over the years from long-term use.
Coincidentally, the same configuration is perfect for the car, too. I was willing to sacrifice some capacity for style and aerodynamics. The ShowCase has a pretty wide adjustment range, which allows it to fit on both long and short rooftops. I had this delima too. I go for stuffed in the back of the car at the moment. I emailed Thule and got a very quick reply that they are working on the new design - hopefully available in 4-6 weeks.
I haven't bought one yet but I've been researching. This is all hearsay though I have no experience with them. I was pleasantly surprised to hear almost no difference with the roof rack mounted. If you get an aftermarket fairing, that will reduce the noise as well. The mounts do not fit my new 2016. I pulled on the sucker with all my weight 200+ and it seems rock solid so I'm not too concerned about creaks and groans. If you dont want to ruin a nice car by sticking an ugly semi permanent bike rack on the roof, then it's your only option.
Hopefully helps out other mk7 owners to get the Aeroblade to work. Since I couldn't find a trailer hitch mount solution that appealed to me, that left roof racks. If you are an active contributor to the sub, you are already approved to edit. . The explosion of technology has made my job and several of my hobbies quite interesting. . I never thought I would like tint.

There's fairly frequent discussion of what you should consider. My bike is a Quick release through axle 15mm the bike clips on sturdy and feels great. Easy on and off and no noise or turbulence even without the boats. I put everything inside when I bike alone. .
