The Dodge Ram 3500 owners have complained of the truck bucking or jerking during the shifting of gears in the transmission. If you dont it will break the overdrive gear. The clutch can overheat and fail due to this pressure solenoid failure. A sign that the filter is going bad is when the Dodge Ram takes a long time to engage into gear after the truck has sat for a long time or overnight. If the pressure is too high it causes the 3500 to buck and jerk. If the filter is not replaced or becomes clogged, the Dodge Ram will not move at all. When these seals begin to leak, they need to be replaced as soon as possible.
Sometimes referred to as a transmission cooler return filter, this transmission component cleans the transmission fluid. The dealership now informed the contact that if he wants any repairs done to the transmission he would be responsible for the cost. The vehicle will not accelerate one it comes to a stop, and if he applies too much pressure on the accelerator pedal the engine engages too quickly. The pressure solenoid controls and modifies the pressure placed across the transmission when gears are being shifted. The Ram 3500 owner needs to continually check the transmission fluid level and look for signs of transmission fluid leaking onto the pavement. The Dodge Ram 3500 has seals that go around the driveshaft extending from the transmission. A pressure solenoid ramps on and off during shifting.
The contact stated that 2 months after the new transmission was replace it continued to exhibit the same failure. The 2006 Ram 3500 has been plagued with the most transmission complaints and problems. The filter easily can be replaced by draining the fluid and removing the transmission pan. The contact stated that this happens everyday, and has problems with acceleration after coming to a stop. The seals have been prematurely deteriorating and causing the transmission fluid to leak out of the Ram 3500. The 2009 Dodge Ram 3500 has had six recalls, but none that deal with the transmission problems owners have had with this heavy-duty truck. The contact stated when the vehicle is in reverse it won't move, until he presses on the accelerator pedal several times.
Mar 25, 2012 Mar 10, 2012 Dec 10, 2011 Dec 02, 2015 Hey, I also have a 98 ram with the cummins and what you are talking about is when you are pullin hard in overdrive the trans is working to hard causing the shudder, when this happens back off the throttle and get back on the throttle to allow the trans to downshift. The transmission solenoid needs to be replaced before it completely destroys the transmission. Be certain who ever does the job is familiar with chrysler transmission as they require atf+ 4 fluid and the clutch bands need to be adjusted to the right spec. There is nothing wrong with the trans it is just that it is shifting to early and bogging down causing the shudder. Cold weather environments cause these transmission seals to deteriorate faster because of the chemicals used on the roads during the winter months.
A Dodge Ram 3500 begins to delay shifting when there is a problem with the transmission filter. This transmission problem has been attributed to the failure of the pressure solenoid. Hetold me it could be the Throttle Position Sensor, the computer needs. The contact stated that in 1999 he had the transmission replaced by roland Chevrolet free of charge. Everything from complete transmission failure to leaking seals have plagued the Ram.
. If you have not had your transmission serviced in the last 30K I would start with that. Oh and another thing, The brake safety for shifting out of park is. It is also possible that the vehicle speed s enser is bad this would most likely affect your speedometer as well. When the transmission fluid leaks out and the Dodge is driven with little transmission fluid, it causes the transmission to overheat and finally fail or burn up. .
