At least that's what I've heard, maybe some others can chime in an correct me if need be. Just my style I guess. Or at least be able to see the cool sights like the Coke ovens and stuff. Fresh synthetic oils in both diffs with chrome covers. All the adaptors we sale are made from steel. This means it will be easier to set the new flange perpendicular to the tube and keep the brake calipers in alignment over the rotor.
I was able to take mine to the alignment shop and it was in good shape. . My old drop pitman arm had a little bit of play in it so it was replaced with a drop pitman arm from 4 wheel parts in mesa. I plan on only doing moderate 4 wheeling in the far east valley. Great miles at only 156K.
It took a few hours and I was alone. Then carefully grind off the flange weld but not too much as you want the new flange to fit snug over the tube. This is a super clean truck, original paint shines excellent. The shield was made from two pieces of sheet metal formed over the rotors by hand and welded together. The truck sat lonely for 2 nights and on the 3rd day the axle found its home again. Some other additions include reese goodneck hitch, turbo wing for towing, and more. On the original drum brakes it was not strong enough to activate the E brake, just overcome the slack.
You will need to figure out mounts for the front leaf springs. When there is no force on the pedal the cable is still under spring tension pulling it from the rear axle. Now that I've removed them, I don't have that issue. Ok by now you have either too much time or money invested to back out. This truck isstill stock with stock intake and exhaust intact. Maybe its the cool factor. Did Ford ever actually make these? The cut off wheel on the angle grinder worked great to remove the small weld holding the flange on.
Increased front carrying capacity isn't needed when you're towing a trailer plus in most places, an F-250 is cheaper to annually register than an F-350. In the last pic we checked for the tube run out. Has 2 Built in spray pumps, powered by hydraulics off truck. All steering components are new including a Red Head steering gear. See the above lower right for new spring location.
It was pretty straight straight forward for the swap. True the Super Duties have five, but the pedal feel of the '97 got a little more spongy. Has 2 separate hose reels for sprayer. Pic 4 shows the right side cable which follows the original drum's cable routing and uses the frame rail clamp. We did not actually use the method in pic 3 to below to crimp the barrel on the cable. We then pulled the pedal cable taunt but not enough to move the cable and used the adjustment on the rod to take up the slack from the E brakes. This is because the caliper brackets are the same, just switched around to save some money by not manufacturing a separate left and right.
Pic three shows the modifications to the end of the left side cable housing. So again the next best thing to do is to make a set. The outside weld is then added for assurance. For the front shackles you will have to put a spacer inside the frame. Twice now within the last month I have seen a 92-97 body style F-250 dually, one 4x4 reg cab, the other 4x4 ext cab, both Pwerstroke diesels. Its been a great truck but we have no use for it anymore.

Seems like the cost of the conversion would outwiegh just buying an F-350 in the first place. We plan on checking the Ford dealer again to see if a 1999 van had them, and if so make the purchase and install them at a later time. New moog steering and ball joints withnew steeringstabilizer.
And finally this is what we ended up with: As you can see the final flanges are beautiful but came at a expense of a few man hours behind a lathe and band saw. And a few odds and ends you would expect from an older. Now the new superduty springs soak up the bumps and the truck rides like it should. The front axle had all new bearings,seals and manual locking hubs installed. Centaurus conversion truck including 4 wheel drive!! Even in a chassis cab. Dually fenders show some typical stone chips, and the right dually fender shows some oxidation shown in photos.
