I won't Lie these have kicked my ass few times. It was on either model. What I had a hard time getting rid of was the frame harmonic bed wobble that many complain of. It is a pain in the ass but we can fix them all that is what I pride my shop on. I would bet in this vid it happend of one road at a certain speed.

Ford actually bought some trucks back because of it. Not sure if the pick ups have the same suspension, but it might be worth taking a freeway ride for a stretch to see how it handles as well. Anyone know how long these trucks typically last with regular maintenance? I'm thinking about picking up a 2000 Ford F250 Crew Cab V10 4x4 with just under 200k miles to pull a 28 foot 5th wheel. A well maintained V10 can reach 300K + even when used as something like a tow truck, but the older V10s all Ford modulars prior to 05 do have their share of issues that aren't always inexpensive to repair. If you can find one, the 05 and later F series with the 6.

I had an 05 that I bought with 103K and used as a 5th wheel tow vehicle for 4 years and had no issue other than its thirst for fuel. Spark plugs being spit out of heads, exhaust studs that dissolve, some sensor issues. I can only suggest that the V10's certainly sound.
If pulling a 5th wheel, I wouldn't want a rig that wandered at all. I can only assume that the long downhill would cool the manifold enough that the area with the missing studs would warp and then when you got back on the gas to go up the other side of the hill it would sound like you lost a plug. I've done it and it will scare the shit out of you. Most were trucks with work beds welders,compressors etc. That's an unusual fix, but worked for me. Has done this since new, so it's not a wear issue.

It is 100 miles away and will be towed here there are many dealers between here and there but most will say they can't work on them because of the shop layout. Loves the motor, hates the Ford front suspension. .
This comes at a funny time actually. It would stay quite until you had a long downhill coast. I ended up selling the truck rather than do those or pay someone else to do that nightmare job. I know most prefer a diesel but the added cost may be overkill for my application. The pre-05 transmissions aren't the strongest Ford ever built either.
